About the Operations Bergslena Upper Secondary School Adapted Education offers national and individual programs. The adapted upper secondary school is a 4-year upper secondary education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of various units located throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and we work closely with those we serve. On the Individual Program, students study six subject areas and on the National Program we offer six vocational programs. We work to ensure that students become employable within their chosen vocational direction or progress as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional approach to the target group and their knowledge development. Before and after school hours, Bergslena Upper Secondary School's units offer short-term supervision for students. Duties The Vehicle Maintenance and Goods Handling program is located at our unit in Viared. You are responsible for teaching the program's vocational subjects. The assignment includes using digital tools and AI as a natural part of teaching to strengthen students' learning and digital competence. You plan, implement, follow up and evaluate teaching and analyze students' knowledge development to ensure high-quality instruction. Teaching is adapted based on each student's individual prerequisites, needs and goals. The role involves close collaboration with student assistants and other colleagues, where you share planning and pedagogical strategies to create the best possible conditions for students' development and learning. Since the teaching includes practical elements and activities, you need to be comfortable with active work. You cooperate with student assistants in daily work and share planning and information to create a safe, structured and developmental learning environment for students. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a qualified vocational teacher with teaching certification in the relevant vocational field. If you also have a specialist teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, we see that as a merit. It is also a merit if you have experience teaching within national programs in adapted upper secondary school. Experience from similar programs within upper secondary school is also valuable. To thrive and succeed in the role, you are a confident and engaged educator with good social skills. You take initiative, work independently and at the same time collaborate easily with colleagues and other professions. You see possibilities in challenges and use a creative and solution-focused approach to meet students' different needs. You understand the importance of digitalization in teaching and for the target group, and are curious about rapid technological development. We would like to see you explore and use digital tools, including AI, to support learning, participation and development. A Category B driving license is a requirement as some of the teaching and student learning takes place out in the community. For this position, it is important that you have good collaboration skills and can build trusting relationships with students, guardians, teaching colleagues, student assistants and other functions within the school.
