About the Operation Bergslena Gymnasium Adapted Upper Secondary School offers national and individual programs. The adapted upper secondary school is a 4-year upper secondary education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of various units distributed throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and we work closely with those we serve. On the Individual Program, students study six subject areas, and on the National Program, we offer six vocational programs. We work to make students employable within their chosen vocational field or help them progress as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional approach to our target group and their knowledge development. Before and after school hours, Bergslena Gymnasium's units offer short-term supervision for students. Job Responsibilities The Vehicle Maintenance and Cargo Handling Program is located at our unit in Viared. You will be responsible for teaching the program's vocational subjects. The assignment includes using digital tools and AI as a natural part of teaching to strengthen students' learning and digital competence. You plan, implement, follow up, and evaluate instruction and analyze students' knowledge development to ensure high-quality teaching. Instruction is adapted based on each student's individual conditions, needs, and goals. The role involves close collaboration with student assistants and other colleagues, where you share planning and pedagogical strategies to create the best possible conditions for students' development and learning. Since the instruction contains practical elements and activities, you should be comfortable with active work. You collaborate with student assistants in daily work and share planning and information to create a safe, structured, and developmental learning environment for students. Qualifications We seek you as a qualified vocational teacher with teacher certification in the relevant vocational field. If you also have a specialist teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, we consider that a merit. It is also advantageous if you have experience teaching in national programs in adapted upper secondary school. Experience from equivalent programs within upper secondary school is also valuable. To thrive and succeed in the role, you are a confident and engaged educator with good social competence. You take initiative, work independently, and simultaneously collaborate easily with colleagues and other professions. You see opportunities in challenges and use a creative and solution-focused approach to meet students' diverse needs. You understand the importance of digitalization in teaching and for the target group, and you are curious about rapid technological development. We would like to see you explore and use digital tools, including AI, as support for learning, participation, and development. A category B driving license is a requirement because part of the instruction and student learning takes place out in the community.
