About the Organization
Bergslena Gymnasium Adapted Secondary School offers national and individual programs. The adapted secondary school is a 4-year secondary education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of various units dispersed throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and we work closely with those we serve.
In the Individual Program, students study six subject areas and in the National Program we offer six vocational programs. We work to ensure that students become employable within their chosen profession or progress as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional approach to the target group and their knowledge development.
Before and after school hours, Bergslena Gymnasium's units offer short-term supervision for students.
Job Responsibilities
The Hotel, Restaurant and Bakery Program is located at our unit on Bergslena Street. There you are responsible for teaching the program's vocational subjects. The role includes using digital tools and AI as a natural part of teaching to strengthen students' learning and digital competence.
You plan, deliver, follow up and evaluate teaching and analyze students' knowledge development to ensure high-quality instruction. Teaching is adapted based on each student's individual circumstances, needs and goals.
The role involves close collaboration with student assistants and other colleagues, where you share planning and pedagogical strategies to create the best possible conditions for student development and learning.
Since the teaching contains practical elements and activities, you need to enjoy active work. You work with student assistants in daily operations and share planning and information to create a safe, structured and developmental learning environment for students.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a qualified vocational instructor with teaching certification in the relevant vocational field. If you also have a specialist teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, we consider this a merit.
It is also a merit if you have experience teaching within national programs in adapted secondary school. Experience from equivalent programs within secondary school is also valuable.
To thrive and succeed in this role, you are a confident and committed educator with good social skills. You take initiative, work independently and at the same time easily collaborate with colleagues and other professions. You see opportunities in challenges and use a creative and solution-focused approach to meet students' different needs.
You understand the importance of digitalization in teaching and for the target group, and are curious about rapid technical development. We would like to see you want to explore and use digital tools, including AI, to support learning, participation and development.
A category B driver's license is a requirement because some of the teaching and students' learning takes place out in the community.
For this position, it is important that you have good collaboration skills and can create trusting relationships with students, guardians, teaching colleagues, student assistants and other functions within the school.
