At our adapted upper secondary school, you will meet students with different strengths, needs and future dreams. We offer education in both national and individual programs, where teaching is adapted to each student's circumstances and aims to create knowledge, independence and the best possible preparation for adult and working life. As a vocational teacher in commerce, you will play a central role in providing our students with knowledge and experience that they can carry with them into working life. Your Assignment As a vocational teacher, you plan, deliver and follow up on instruction in commerce, service and sales. The teaching needs to be concrete, practical and clearly connected to situations that students will encounter in working life. Teaching in both national and individual programs may occur. You work closely with students and adapt your teaching based on their individual circumstances. Practical learning, clear structure, repetition and opportunities to practice skills in realistic situations are important parts of the instruction. Your responsibilities include: planning, delivering, documenting and following up on instruction in commerce, service and sales creating practical and realistic teaching situations developing students' knowledge in areas such as customer service, service, sales, merchandise handling and other common work tasks in the commerce field adapting instruction and materials to students' different circumstances and needs working to develop students' independence, responsibility and professional pride preparing students for work placements and future working life, and collaborating with workplaces and other external partners working closely with resource specialists, other teachers and student welfare professionals actively contributing to the development of the education and organization as a whole. Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone with strong professional knowledge and experience in commerce, service, sales or related fields. A vocational teacher qualification and teacher certification are required. Experience with adapted schools, working with people with intellectual disabilities or special educational needs is a merit, but we also place great importance on your willingness and ability to learn and develop in the role. To succeed in this position, you need to be able to translate your professional knowledge into instruction that is concrete, understandable and motivating. You need to be able to break down work tasks into smaller steps and find different ways for the student to understand, develop and gradually become more independent. As a person, you are confident, relationship-focused and clear. You have patience and the ability to adapt your communication style to the person you are working with. At the same time, you have high expectations for students' ability to develop and see opportunities even when the path forward is not obvious. You also need to have strong collaboration skills. At the adapted upper secondary school, we work together around the students and you need to feel comfortable both leading and collaborating with other professionals in the instruction.
