About the Workplace Inter Arts Center (IAC) is part of Lund University and functions as a research infrastructure that promotes and facilitates artistic and music pedagogical research, interdisciplinary activities, and collaboration with external partners. IAC serves as a meeting place for the faculty's research and research education, with a mission to particularly promote encounters between the faculty's researchers in cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts. The center operates in close collaboration with the School of Fine Art, School of Theatre, and School of Music in Malmö, and also collaborates with the surrounding cultural life and with research at local, regional, national, and international levels. We provide appropriate facilities, artistic and technological equipment, expertise, and consulting. IAC arranges up to 150 public activities annually and operates under a three-year mandate with regulations that describe the center's direction and scope. The workplace is located at Berggatan 29 in central Malmö. As a technician, you will be part of a work team together with other technicians, an operations coordinator, project assistant, artistic coordinators, and a director. We specialize in various areas, but the nature of the work requires great flexibility with responsibility-taking and cross-boundary collaboration. Work is conducted through both various projects and ongoing activities. Responsibilities As a technician in IAC's research environment, you will be responsible for providing technical support to projects and events, as well as ongoing administrative and technical tasks related to equipment and facilities. The work includes providing service to researchers and doctoral students at the School of Fine Art, as well as coordination and collaboration with the faculty's departments and other partners. Your main responsibilities will consist of: Providing and taking responsibility for technical support in artistic projects: everything from guidance to installation and execution of concerts, performances, and conferences. Support and guidance with video, lighting, and audio equipment as well as related software. Maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of technical equipment. Loaning of technical equipment to projects and research. Inspection, preparation, and minor repairs of facilities. Contributing to IAC's preparations for the School of Fine Art's co-location. Qualifications We are looking for a technically and administratively competent person with professional experience in the artistic field. Requirements for employment include: -Documented broad expertise with technical equipment used in contemporary artistic expression: Digital and analog audio mixing consoles, wireless microphone and monitor systems, PA systems, lighting control via DMX with both hardware (lighting console) and software (QLab or similar), video cameras with accessories, and media players and projectors. Particularly important is strong technical expertise in sound-based art and music, including spatial audio. Good knowledge is required of MIDI, DMX, and electronics, as well as computer networks and computers, both Mac and PC, in hardware and software to execute advanced projects within audio, lighting, and video. Good knowledge is also required of various DAWs such as Logic, Reaper, and Pro Tools. -Experience working with artistic events and productions. Ability to take initiative independently and to structure and plan your own work, both regarding maintenance work/development and providing support to users. Good ability to be communicative, work in teams, and build good relationships both internally and externally. Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, particularly in the technical field. Merits for employment include: Technical and/or artistic education relevant to the specified work area. Professional experience in artistic education and/or other work with artistic activities at a professional level. Project management and/or planning of larger projects. Knowledge and experience in audio recording and mixing in studio and live settings. Knowledge of electronics and programming of, for example, microcontroller boards. Other Information The position is a temporary substitute role starting 2026-11-01 and lasting until 2027-03-31 or until the permanent position holder returns to work. Work is scheduled two full days per week (primarily Thursdays and Fridays) but will be adjusted according to operational needs. Weekend and evening work may occur.
