Welcome to Smedjebacken Municipality! We are a municipality that, with a solid and stable economy as our foundation and with our residents in focus, actively works on development where the goal is the best possible operations. As an employer, our strength lies in unpretentiousness, dialogue, and short decision-making processes. We are convinced that together we can live up to our core values where welcoming, commitment, security, and future confidence are our guiding principles. IFO Adult Unit The adult group in our Individual and Family Care (IFO) consists of three social workers who work with financial assistance, one social worker who works with harmful substance use/other adult matters, and one position working with the new reform on activity requirements. One of our social workers will now be on parental leave, which is why we are now seeking a temporary social worker for financial assistance. The temporary position is for a minimum of one year starting October 1, 2026, and interviews will be held on an ongoing basis. Main Duties As a social worker in financial assistance, your main duties are to investigate and assess the right to assistance according to the Social Services Act, and to work actively together with the individual to create a change in their life situation leading to self-sufficiency. We view the management of financial assistance as qualified social change work aimed at strengthening the individual's ability to live an independent life. The role also includes assessing individuals' ability to participate in activities based on the new reform on activity requirements. As a social worker, you will also maintain regular contact with applicants assigned to your position. We work toward close collaboration with the municipality's Employment and Integration Unit (AMI). The work involves extensive contacts and cooperation with other parties and authorities. Therefore, good knowledge of how society functions is necessary. Other duties may also occur. The content and conditions of the work may change over time. Qualifications Requirements A degree in social work (socionom) or other academic education that the employer deems equivalent. Thorough familiarity with the case handling requirements and legislation that governs the operations. Training in MI, FREDA, and solution-focused working methods. Ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written. Computer proficiency. Driver's license. Meritorious Experience in public authority work with financial assistance is desirable. Experience with the LifeCare management system is a plus. Personal Qualities To thrive in the role of social worker, we believe you have strong commitment and an interest in social work. You have the courage to make a difference for vulnerable people in society, and one of your strengths is building relationships and collaboration. Since the work involves many contact points, it is important that you have the ability to nurture and build good relationships. Skills such as communication, responsibility-taking, and unpretentious collaboration are important to us, as is good conduct. You are clear, communicative, and structured with a high degree of personal maturity and self-awareness. You are receptive and can hold space for anxiety and provide support even in complex situations. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
