Description At Toleredsskolan, approximately 700 students from preschool class through grade 9 meet in a safe, educational, and inspiring environment. Are you a dedicated school counselor passionate about making a difference for children and young people? We are now seeking a counselor for a one-year temporary position. The position is full-time at 100% from an agreed start date through spring term 2027 and 60 percent during fall term 2027. The extent of employment will be discussed together with the recruiting manager. Job Responsibilities As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student wellbeing team and contribute psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student wellbeing, you collaborate with the school nurse, special education teacher, psychologist, school doctor, and principal. The team's mission is to work together with the principal and teaching staff to promote health and prevent problems in order to strengthen children and young people's opportunities to achieve their goals. Your responsibilities include, for example, participating in the school's ongoing work on values and safety, providing support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and implementing interventions in groups/classes. You will also conduct school social investigations and assessments for admission to adapted primary school, as well as investigate student absences. You will also collaborate with external actors such as social services, rehabilitation services, youth psychiatric services, and child and adolescent psychiatric services. Within the primary school administration, you participate in professional meetings once a month together with fellow counselors and professional development specialists, and you participate in external supervision. As a new school counselor, you will also receive an introduction and a mentor. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent higher education that the employer deems relevant. We consider it advantageous if you have experience working as a school counselor and experience working with children and young people. We would also like to see experience documenting in PMO. You enable children to share their stories and help ensure that students' participation and perspectives are highlighted. You find it easy to build relationships and are professional and respectful in your interactions with students, guardians, and colleagues. You need to have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in a team with different professions. In your work, you are structured and clear, and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the scope of your role. You also prioritize your efforts together with the principal and other student wellbeing staff. You enjoy working with complex issues, see opportunities, and are creative.
