The Research Ethics Committee is now establishing a new unit within the office – and we are recruiting several (3 - 4) PhD holders who together want to shape an entirely new environment in our operations. About the role of investigator
The duties involve providing qualified support to our decision-making departments in their review, including participating in meetings where you present and explain the content of the research and clarify what emerges from the research protocols. You answer questions about the research and relate it to relevant regulations, previous practice and research ethics assessments. You also provide support in the review outside meetings by, for example, summarizing content in relation to previous decisions or assessing whether received supplements require a new review. An important part of the role is working with coordination to promote consistency in the review.
Furthermore, you provide scientific support to the agency's staff in various areas by, for example, answering specific questions or conducting internal training initiatives. You are part of operations development and work together with your colleagues to develop internal governing documents and procedures. You also participate in the agency's external work, answer questions from external parties, conduct external presentations and training, and more.
Qualification requirements
PhD in medicine or pharmacy or equivalent.
Experience of research activities after obtaining a PhD.
Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Experience of government agency work or work in other public operations and writing decision support or other analytical texts.
Experience of working with clinical drug trials and knowledge of GCP.
Knowledge and practical experience of working with research ethics issues.

Location: Uppsala. You have the option to reach an agreement with your immediate supervisor to work remotely a number of days per week. You also have the option to work part of the time at one of the agency's other offices in the country (Gothenburg, Lund, Linköping, Stockholm, Umeå).
The employment is permanent and full-time; we apply a six-month probationary period.
The possibility of part-time work to conduct your own research can be discussed.
Start date: According to agreement.

Business travel occurs, for example, to participate in departmental meetings in person at the various offices around the country a number of times per year, at agency intranet meetings and, for example, conferences.
About the Research Ethics CommitteeThe Research Ethics Committee is a national agency with the mandate to review research involving humans, biological material or sensitive personal data. The agency was started in 2019 and is based in Uppsala with offices in 5 additional locations in the country. The review is conducted by 500 external members, both scientific members and representatives of the public, led by 42 judges in a total of 21 departments, where science, ethics and law are combined to promote a responsible research environment in Sweden. The agency's office supports the departments with administration and more as well as being responsible for the agency's other management. At the office, approximately 30 people are employed. Most are administrators, but there is also a scientific coordinator, chief legal officer, subject responsible, finance responsible, administrative managers and statistics responsible.
