We are now seeking an engaged and strategic director of administration who wants to help shape the future of social services. At the Department of Individual and Family Services in Borås City, 300 employees work to provide support to children, young people, adults, and families in vulnerable or difficult life situations. We work to ensure that all care provided under the Social Services Act is delivered in close collaboration with those involved and with the needs of the young person or adult in focus. We strive to provide support through early interventions in open care, in the local community. The department is characterized by a systems theory perspective where a holistic approach, collaboration, and long-term thinking permeate the operations. Your Assignment As Director of Administration, you have overall responsibility for the department's operations, finances, personnel, and development. You lead the department based on decisions made by elected officials and ensure that operations are conducted with high quality, good legal certainty, and a clear focus on residents. You are entering an exciting and important time when social services face major changes. A central task will be to lead the department's continued transformation in accordance with the intentions of the new Social Services Act and to take over and further develop the ongoing development work. This includes, among other things, the implementation of Signs of Safety and continuing to develop approaches that strengthen early and preventive measures. You will be part of the municipality's management team and actively contribute to the development of the municipality as a whole. The role further includes: Leading and developing the department through the department's managers Ensuring good goal achievement, quality, and finances Driving strategic development work with a long-term holistic perspective Creating good conditions for collaboration both internally and externally Being an active part of the municipality's collective management work You are offered a developmental and socially important assignment where you get to lead the department's continued development journey in a time characterized by new opportunities and changes. Based on the new Social Services Act, you will work together with the department's managers to create long-term conditions for a sustainable, high-quality, and future-oriented social service. Your Profile We are looking for someone who is a confident, development-oriented, and strategic leader with the ability to create direction, engagement, and results through others. You are communicative and relationship-building and find it easy to build trusting collaborations both within and outside the organization. Your leadership is characterized by trust, clarity, and participation. You believe in people's willingness and ability to take responsibility and create conditions for managers and employees to develop and succeed in their assignments. To succeed in the role, we see that you have: A degree in social work or other relevant academic education Multiple years of management experience within social services operations Experience leading other managers Experience from public sector operations and preferably a politically governed organization Good knowledge of the social services mandate, legislation, and governance Good understanding of the intentions of the new Social Services Act and its impact on operations Experience with change and development work in complex organizations We particularly value that you have a long-term holistic perspective, the ability to translate strategic goals into practical operational development, and a genuine commitment to social sustainability and community development.
