The Language Center works to strengthen the Sámi languages and their speakers, for increased use of the Sámi languages, and to develop methods for language revitalization. Our primary target group is children and young people. We collaborate with other institutions and organizations in our work. Duties As Unit Manager, you will lead the Language Center's employees in language-strengthening projects and method development. You work strategically and operatively. You have results, financial, and operational responsibility for the Sámi Language Center and work environment responsibility for the Language Center's employees. Other duties include reporting on operations to the board and committees, procurement and contract work such as cooperation agreements, assignment agreements, and use of copyright-protected material. Additional duties may occur. Travel is part of the position. Your Qualifications We are looking for someone with higher education or university education in areas relevant to the Sámi Language Center, such as in project management or languages, or equivalent competence acquired through work experience. You should have experience with project-based work. You have good ability to communicate orally and in writing and the ability to compile facts and write reports within the operational area. You must have a good command of one of the Sámi languages in speech and writing, and you should have good knowledge of Sámi society and the Sámi languages through, for example, education or work experience. It is a merit if you can speak and write several Sámi languages. It is also a merit to have experience in management and experience working in public operations or politically governed organizations. Personal Qualities We are looking for someone who is: Independent and organized Solution-oriented and accustomed to working within set timeframes Has good cooperation skills and experience leading and creating engagement among employees.
