We are Seeking a Director for Fire Prevention Services

Umeå Region Fire and Rescue Service works with fire prevention activities and emergency response services in the municipalities of Umeå, Vindeln, and Robertsfors. The operation includes a full-time station in central Umeå with approximately 90 employees, nine on-call stations with around 150 firefighters on standby, and two volunteer fire departments. Together with 16 other municipalities in Norrbotten and Västerbotten, we are part of the joint emergency management system Räddningssamverkan Nord. We are in an exciting phase of development. To meet regional growth, we are building an additional full-time station in the Umeå area while gradually expanding our workforce over the coming years. At the same time, we are conducting a comprehensive organizational review to create the best possible conditions for a modern and future-proof fire service. Responsibilities As Director of Fire Prevention Services, you have overall responsibility for leading, developing, and monitoring the operation together with the organization's employees. You have personnel responsibility for a team consisting of fire engineers and fire inspectors, as well as budget responsibility for fire prevention activities. You are part of the fire service's management group and actively contribute to developing the operation and ensuring professional execution of the organization's overall mission. Organizationally, you report directly to the Fire Chief. Depending on your qualifications and suitability, there may also be an opportunity to take on one of the fire service's senior command functions. The position is primarily office-based and involves responsibility for leading, developing, and monitoring the operation's goals, work areas, and assignments. Since parts of the work can be performed remotely, you have the possibility of living outside the immediate Umeå area. About You We are looking for someone with great dedication, drive, and a strong desire to develop and improve the operation. To succeed in this role, you are a clear, attentive, and unpretentious leader who builds trust through respectful and professional conduct. You have good collaboration skills and work systematically to achieve set goals. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You work today, or have previously worked, in municipal fire and rescue services with tasks and responsibilities within fire prevention activities. Experience in management or leadership with personnel, budget, and operational responsibility is meritorious, but not required. We would like to see that you have: Fire Engineer Degree MSB's Fire and Rescue Service Training for Fire Engineers (RUB) Supervision A and B You express yourself very well in speech and writing in Swedish.
