Do you want to work extra on weekends and holidays and help create really great experiences for children, young people, and families? As a Science Educator at 2047 Science Center, you'll be an important part of our weekend and holiday team.
As a Science Educator, you will primarily meet our visitors. Your tasks will vary depending on where you're needed on any given day. For example, you might welcome and assist visitors at reception, move around in our experiment environment, or show films in the Ljungbergs Planetarium. It can also involve answering questions, helping direct visitors, and contributing to creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
The most important part of the role is the interaction with our visitors – children, young people, and parents alike. You will lead groups and various types of sessions and activities where you engage, inspire, and encourage visitors to want to discover more. In some setups, you may also get to take on a role and use drama pedagogy, humor, and acting to create a really great experience.
You don't need to be an expert in natural science and technology. We have ready-made formats and you'll get the knowledge you need on site. What matters most is that you're good with people, you dare to make contact, and you enjoy engaging others.
We're looking for you who
enjoy meeting many different people and like making connections
are social, curious, and engaged
dare to take initiative and don't wait for someone else to take the first step
like to bring yourself and create energy around you
feel comfortable speaking in front of groups
love working with children, young people, and families
are flexible and can adapt to different visitors and situations
It's especially meriting if you
have a background in drama, acting, improvisation, or similar
have experience leading groups, activities, or educational programs
have worked with children and young people
have experience in service, hospitality, or other roles where interaction with people is central
If you have an interest in natural science and technology, that's of course positive, but it's not decisive. What matters most is your ability to meet people and create engagement.
