Brå is a growing authority, and the Legal, Procurement, Registry, Archives and Finance (JURAE) unit is now seeking one or two lawyers for employment as legal counsel. You will work in a pleasant unit with engaged and knowledgeable colleagues. We have close collaboration and share knowledge and experience with each other. You will be an important part of our unit and will work particularly closely with the other legal counsels and the chief legal officer.
About the position
Brå's core activities consist of research, statistics, and development of crime prevention work. Over the past year, several parts of Brå's operations have grown significantly and will continue to do so. The role of legal counsel at Brå has a broad legal focus, and you will provide legal support to the operations on various legal matters. The legal areas that are most common are primarily administrative law, criminal law, public access to information and confidentiality, and data protection. Issues concerning, for example, security protection, contracts, and subsidy administration also occur. The authority is undergoing a digitalization journey, so issues related to IT law are becoming increasingly relevant.
The work includes, among other things, reviewing the authority's research reports from a legal perspective, answering questions from the operations, developing and updating governance documents, providing support on matters concerning state grants, and writing legal analyses within areas such as administrative law or public access to information and confidentiality. The work as legal counsel also includes conducting training within relevant legal areas, responding to some of the authority's consultations, and assisting various projects with legal expertise.
Brå is an authority with the possibility of short decision-making processes and where we work closely with other organizational units. As a legal counsel at the authority, there are good opportunities to influence working methods and which organizational units you serve as a contact person for. It is an advantage if you enjoy operations development, and we continuously work on improving our working methods and how we best support the operations.
Your education and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree from a law program or equivalent
- Several years of current experience with qualified legal work within the public sector.
It is advantageous if you:
- Have experience within legal areas relevant to the position, such as administrative law, criminal law, data protection, and public access to information and confidentiality
- Have worked at a crime-fighting authority or another authority relevant to the position
- Have notary certification or equivalent professional experience from a court.
Your personal qualities
To succeed in the role of legal counsel with us, you need to be independent, responsible, and thorough. You have high integrity but are also flexible and unpretentious and find pragmatic solutions to drive the authority's work forward. You can quickly switch between different tasks and prioritize under time pressure, and you have very good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing. In the role of legal counsel, you will support colleagues with legal questions within all parts of Brå's operations. It is therefore important that you find it easy to communicate and collaborate with others and that you are pedagogical and structured. You should also be interested in development work and feel comfortable conducting training within the authority.

Terms of employment
The employment is a permanent full-time position, with start date by agreement. Brå applies a 6-month probationary period and individual salary setting.
