Description The Swedish Coast Guard's Unit for Method Development Maritime Surveillance is seeking a Business Development Officer in Weapons, Protection and Conflict Management, based in Karlskrona, Gothenburg, Malmö, or Stockholm. The Unit for Method Development Maritime Surveillance is part of the agency's Development and Innovation department and is responsible for developing, establishing, monitoring, and managing methods for the Swedish Coast Guard's operational activities. The unit is particularly responsible for developing capabilities within control, supervision, and crime prevention. Within these areas, conflict management, weapons, and protection are central functions that require operational experience, tactical understanding, and the ability to convert experience into governing methods and working practices. This vacancy is open in several locations; to apply, follow this link: Business Development Officer Weapons, Protection and Conflict Management Duties As a Business Development Officer in Weapons, Protection and Conflict Management, you will become one of the Swedish Coast Guard's leading experts in the field. You are responsible for the agency's long-term capability development in your areas and serve as qualified expert support and advisor to the entire agency within these subject areas. You will lead development by producing system objectives, dimensioning governing documents, and method descriptions that form the foundation for how the Swedish Coast Guard should develop, maintain, and use its operational capabilities. You will convert operational needs, experiences, threat assessments, and legal requirements into methods and working practices that ensure consistent, lawful, and operationally relevant application throughout the agency. Qualifications As an applicant, you have relevant post-secondary education combined with current work experience in the relevant subject areas or equivalent competence that the Swedish Coast Guard deems equivalent. You have: Documented experience working with issues related to weapons, protection, and operational tactics. Relevant operational and/or support function experience from, for example, the Swedish Coast Guard, Swedish Armed Forces, Police Authority, or other organizations with similar missions. In addition to the above, it is meritorious if you have: Knowledge and experience within the Swedish legal system. Knowledge and experience in drafting governing documents at various levels and with varying levels of detail. Knowledge and experience in capability dimensioning and system objective work. Experience in project management and procedural case handling. Knowledge and experience working against adversarial threats. Experience from maritime operations. Documented experience in central development work in large organizations or equivalent. You express yourself very well verbally and in writing in Swedish and English. You are analytical, structured, and have the ability to translate complex issues into clear and practically applicable solutions. You work independently and drive your issues forward, while also having a natural ability to build trust and collaborate with different parts of the organization. You are clear in your communication, have sound judgment, and high personal integrity. The Swedish Coast Guard is a law enforcement and crime prevention authority with high requirements for legal certainty and responsibility towards third parties. We therefore expect that you have a strong ethical approach and act with the agency's and legal certainty's best interests in focus. Tests may be used in the selection process. Terms The position is a permanent employment with an initial probationary period. Start date by agreement. Swedish citizenship, a car driver's license, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required for employment. The Swedish Coast Guard participates in overseas assignments and international operations. The position therefore includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the agency's operations. Permanent employment also includes an obligation to be assigned for wartime duty.
