The Sick Leave Insurance Department (SF) is tasked with investigating, deciding on, and disbursing primarily sick leave benefits. Through legally sound application, good service, and efficient cooperation with other actors, the department works toward low and stable sick leave absence. We are approximately 3,800 employees spread across about 50 locations throughout Sweden. The department consists of five national operations areas named Initial Claim, In-Depth Investigation, Return to Work Support, Legal Support, and Process. We are seeking a driven, strategic, and development-oriented person for the role of Operations Area Manager for the SF Return to Work Support operations area. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to work at a high strategic level in operations with a high degree of complexity and an important societal mission. Duties and Responsibilities As an Operations Area Manager, you are responsible for directing operations and leading people based on the authority's long-term goals and the department's shared direction. The state value foundation permeates your work. You lead nine area managers who lead others as well as a number of support functions. In your role, you support the department director's decision-making and take responsibility for ensuring that decisions are implemented within your operations. You create understanding of context, direction, and the targets the department has set, and develop the plans your operations need. You have operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel responsibility. You have an active role in driving cooperation matters from a broader societal perspective together with other authorities and actors. You represent the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in media contacts. In the operations area's management group, you direct strategic work together with your area managers and support functions and drive cross-functional cooperation. Through your leadership, you create the predictability, security, and sustainability necessary for employees to take responsibility and meet the need for change. You adapt and exercise your leadership in a way that creates conditions for employees to use their judgment and competence. The operations area consists of approximately 1,100 employees, most of whom work as insurance investigators. Insurance investigators work to investigate sick leave, assess work capacity, and actively coordinate measures to help people on sick leave return to work or other activities. In most cases, individuals are relatively far from returning to work or other activities and therefore need support from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and other actors to return to work. The operations area also includes employees who work with insurance medicine and structural cooperation with other actors. The operations you lead are spread across several locations in Sweden, and travel is part of the position. The operations area has strong dependencies with other activities in the sick leave process, so good cooperation abilities are required. As an Operations Area Manager, you are part of the department's management group, and your immediate supervisor is the department director. The position involves handling classified information, which places high demands on proper handling. Therefore, it is important that you have high security awareness when working for us.
