The Sick Leave Insurance Division (SF) is tasked with investigating, deciding, and paying out primarily sick leave benefits. Through lawful application, good service, and effective collaboration with other stakeholders, the division works to maintain low and stable sick leave rates. We have approximately 3,800 employees spread across about 50 locations throughout Sweden. The division consists of five national operations areas called First Claim, In-Depth Investigation, Return to Work Support, Legal Support, and Process. We are seeking a driven, strategic, and development-oriented person for the role of Operations Area Manager for the SF Return to Work Support area. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to work at a high strategic level in operations with a high degree of complexity and an important societal mission. Responsibilities and Tasks As Operations Area Manager, you are responsible for managing operations and leading people based on the agency's long-term goals and the division's common direction. The state's values permeate your work. You lead nine area managers who lead others, as well as several support functions. In your role, you support the division director's decision-making and take responsibility for ensuring that decisions are implemented within your operations. You create understanding of context, direction, and the targets the division has set, and develop the plans your operations need. You have operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel responsibility. You play an active role in driving collaboration initiatives from a broader societal perspective with other authorities and stakeholders. You represent the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in media contacts. In the operations area's management group, you guide strategic work together with your area managers and support functions, and drive cross-functional collaboration. Through your leadership, you create the predictability, security, and sustainability necessary for employees to take responsibility and meet the need for change. You adapt and exercise your leadership in a way that creates conditions for employees to use their judgment and competence. The operations area consists of approximately 1,100 employees, most of whom work as insurance investigators. Insurance investigators work to investigate sick leave, assess work capacity, and actively coordinate measures to help individuals on sick leave return to work or other employment. In most cases, individuals are relatively far from returning to work or other employment and therefore need support from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and other stakeholders to return to work. The operations area also includes employees who work with insurance medicine and structural collaboration with other stakeholders. The operations you lead are spread across several locations in Sweden and travel is part of the position. The operations area has strong dependencies with other operations within the sick leave process, so good collaboration skills are required. As Operations Area Manager, you are part of the division's management group, and your immediate supervisor is the division director. The position involves handling classified information, which requires high standards for proper handling. Therefore, it is important that you have strong security awareness.
