The Sickness Insurance Department (SF) is tasked with investigating, deciding on, and disbursing sickness benefits, among other things. Through legally sound application, good service, and effective collaboration with other actors, the department works to maintain low and stable sick leave. We have approximately 3,800 employees spread across about 50 locations throughout Sweden. The department consists of five national operations areas: Initial Claims, In-depth Investigation, Support for Return to Work, Legal Support, and Process. We are seeking a driven, strategic, and development-oriented person for the role of Operations Area Manager for the SF Initial Claims operations area. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to work at a high strategic level in complex operations with an important societal mission. Duties and Responsibilities As Operations Area Manager, you are responsible for directing operations and leading people based on the agency's long-term goals and the department's shared direction. The state's core values permeate your work. You lead four area managers who lead others, as well as several support functions. In your role, you support the department director's decision-making and take responsibility for implementing decisions within your operations. You create understanding of context, direction, and the department's vision, and develop the plans your operations need. You have operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel responsibility. You play an active role in driving collaboration efforts from a broader societal perspective together with other authorities and actors. You represent the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in media contacts. In the operations area's management group, you guide strategic work together with your area managers and support functions and drive cross-functional collaborations. Through your leadership, you create the predictability, security, and sustainability necessary for employees to take responsibility and meet the need for change. You adapt and exercise leadership in ways that enable employees to use their judgment and expertise. The operations area consists of approximately 800 employees, most of whom work as insurance investigators or insurance specialists. Employees make decisions for customers applying for sickness benefits for the first time, answer incoming customer calls, and handle administrative tasks. The work demands high efficiency and quality. The operations you lead are distributed across several locations in Sweden, and travel is part of the position. The operations area has strong interdependencies with other parts of the sick leave process, so good collaboration skills are essential. As Operations Area Manager, you are part of the department's management group, and your direct supervisor is the department director. The position involves handling classified information, which requires high standards of proper handling. Therefore, it is important that you have strong security awareness.
