Tjállegoahte – an author center that works to strengthen Sámi literature and authorship and to disseminate Sámi stories both within and outside Sápmi. Our vision is a living Sámi narrative community.
Tjállegoahte non-profit association was established in 2020 following several years of work by Bágo čalliid siebrie, a writers' and authors' association, together with the Swedish Writers' Union and the Norrland Literature Society. Today, Tjállegoahte is led by a board with representatives from Bágo čalliid siebrie, the Swedish Writers' Union, and the Norrland Literature Society, which ensures broad and competent anchoring in both Sámi and Swedish literary contexts.
Tjállegoahte is headquartered in Jokkmokk but operates throughout Sápmi in Sweden. We work to support both established and aspiring Sámi authors, translators, writers, storytellers, and illustrators to develop and publish their work in Sámi languages and other languages. Our work and values are based on a Sámi perspective that respects both tradition and innovation. We place great importance on good and respectful collaborations that strengthen and develop Sámi literature and Sámi authorship.
The Sámi languages are Tjállegoahte's working languages.
As Operations Manager, you are responsible for Tjállegoahte's ongoing operations and for continuous work in developing the association's activities, organization, finances, and funding in close collaboration with our target groups, partners, funders, and other relevant stakeholders. The Operations Manager also has strategic and operational management responsibility for the association's operations, finances, work environment, and other staff.
As Operations Manager, you are responsible for hiring other staff members. In your role as Operations Manager, you have the opportunity to strengthen and develop Sámi authorship and literature for the future. We expect that you have a good understanding of Sámi culture, literature, Sámi authorship, storytelling traditions, and joik.
We also believe you have good knowledge of Sámi culture and conditions within Sápmi. You also have knowledge of literature and authorship among other indigenous peoples. We would like to see that you have experience in inclusive personnel management, finances, and budgeting.
You are a practical visionary. You communicate easily with our target groups, partners, and other relevant stakeholders. You build good relationships both internally and externally. We appreciate an inclusive approach and that you express yourself fluently in speech and writing in Sámi, Swedish, and English, with experience in guiding people in writing.
