Do you want to lead the development of the future social services?
In Lund, an important transformation is underway where the new social services law creates opportunities to work more preventively, accessibly, and close to residents. We are now seeking an operations manager who wants to take a central role in this work and contribute to creating better living conditions for children, young people, and adults.
As operations manager, you will become part of the labor market and social services department's management group and help shape the strategic development of the department. Together, we work toward social services with high quality, strong collaboration, and a focus on the needs of Lund residents.
You report directly to the department head.
About the role
As operations manager, you are responsible for preventive and accessible services for children, young people, and adults. You have a key role in translating the intentions of the new social services law into practice and developing services that meet today's and tomorrow's needs.
You have overall responsibility for operations, finances, personnel, and working environment within your area. Currently, you lead four unit managers and create conditions for operations characterized by quality, innovation, and good goal achievement.
An important part of the assignment is building and developing collaboration with other municipalities, authorities, and partner organizations. You represent the operations in steering and management groups where multiple stakeholders work together to strengthen support for children, young people, and families.
You actively contribute to the department's strategic development and represent the operations in political contexts by presenting matters and participating in committees, subcommittees, and other forums.
Who are you?
We are seeking a confident, clear, and development-oriented leader who creates results through others. You thrive in complex settings where collaboration, trust, and long-term perspective are crucial for success.
You have the ability to shift between strategic work and day-to-day operations and translate political decisions, legislation, and goals into concrete results. Through your leadership, you create engagement, participation, and direction while driving change and development.
You build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and see collaboration as a natural path to better results. For you, development work is not a side project—it is a natural part of the assignment.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
higher education of at least 180 academic credits in social work or other relevant academic education
at least five years of documented management experience
experience leading operations in collaboration between social services, healthcare, police, and schools
experience working in a politically governed organization or in close collaboration with political leadership
very good knowledge of the social services law and good understanding of related legislation within healthcare and education
experience leading and coordinating operations across organizational boundaries
good knowledge within the work environment field
experience collaborating with labor unions.
It is meriting if you have:
experience leading other managers
completed leadership training
experience in operations development
experience in project and process management.
Personal qualities
To succeed in this role, you are strategic, analytical, and development-oriented. You see the whole picture and understand how different operations interact to create value for the people we exist to serve.
You lead through trust, clarity, and participation and have the ability to create engagement even in times of change. You make well-founded decisions, stand firm when circumstances change, and drive development work with both courage and persistence.
What we offer you
With us, you have the opportunity to work with a societally important assignment where, together with engaged managers and employees, you contribute to creating better living conditions for Lund residents. You become part of a department that values courage, trust, collaboration, and development, and where you have the opportunity to influence the future of social services.
As an employee of Lund Municipality, you are also offered a workplace characterized by knowledge, collaboration, and development, as well as benefits that contribute to balance, security, and a sustainable working life.
About the recruitment process
