The Department of Infectious Diseases is a county and regional clinic with extensive operations and status as a University Hospital Unit. The clinic has an inpatient ward with 19 beds and an outpatient clinic. Inpatient care primarily provides acute care in the field of infectious diseases. Conditions such as sepsis, pneumonia, COVID-19, influenza, endocarditis, and tuberculosis are common. The outpatient clinic focuses primarily on diagnoses including hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, immunodeficiency, and carrier status of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Needle exchange services operate in connection with the infectious disease clinic. The Department of Infectious Diseases, together with the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Umeå University, is responsible for clinical infectious disease research, and research activity is high. Teaching students in healthcare education programs is integrated into daily operations. The clinic has just over 110 employees. The Operations Director position encompasses responsibility for operations, personnel, and finances. Important work areas for the role include operations planning, operations development, monitoring, investigations, and quality work. As Operations Director, you lead the Department of Infectious Diseases' management team, where you actively steer and guide on clinic-wide strategic matters. Together with the department heads and medical director, you lead and plan operations. You have personnel and work environment responsibility for about ten senior physicians, three department heads, a medical director, a chief assistant, and a care developer. Research, development, innovation, and education of all healthcare professions are important to Region Västerbotten, and as part of operations leadership, you are expected to promote close collaboration with Umeå University. You report directly to the Area Director. In addition to leading and developing operations, you are expected to contribute to the broader county healthcare area through your active role in the area's management team. QUALIFICATIONS You have higher education or other education/experience that the employer considers equivalent. We see that you have previous management experience or can demonstrate leadership capabilities in other contexts. Leadership training is desirable but not required. It is meritorious if you have experience from equivalent work in healthcare and if you have previously managed managers. If you hold a doctoral degree and/or conduct research, that is an added advantage. You have the ability to build good relationships and strong collaboration, both with employees internally and externally. You are a secure and responsive leader who leads with trust, builds confident partnerships, and promotes a positive work environment through your actions. Good structure and advance planning are important to you, which shows in your practical work. You are resourceful and enjoy driving change, taking your own initiatives, and being an active force behind operations development. You encourage your employees to try new working methods that ultimately contribute to improved patient care. We see that you are skilled at encouraging and supporting employees, recognizing their personal potential and contribution to the overall operations. In this way, you create conditions for your employees to grow and work together toward the Department of Infectious Diseases' shared goals. You also contribute to creating conditions for continued improvement and development work within the operations area (Primary Care Area Umeå). You need to have a good understanding of and interest in research, development, and education, and preferably have good insight into and knowledge of collaboration with Umeå University and its operations. If the applicant holds a regulated profession, verification of licensure and all relevant specialist certificates through the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare will be conducted when the application is received. A requirement for the assignment is that you have very good knowledge of the Swedish language and also possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
