As Head of Early Childhood Education and School Principal in Sollentuna Municipality, you will have a strategic and significant responsibility to lead, develop, and follow up on the municipality's preschool operations at the principal level. You will play a central role in creating conditions for equitable, high-quality education where children's learning, security, development, and future are at the center. The assignment involves working together with principals and other managers to drive development, create sustainable structures, and ensure that operations are based on scientific knowledge and proven experience. Our 19 municipal preschools are organized in six principal areas where principals lead the daily educational work together with teaching teams and support functions. Operations are characterized by collaboration, experience sharing, and joint development among the preschools. The preschools work according to the curriculum's objectives and values with a focus on children's language, learning, security, and participation. Responsibilities As Head of Early Childhood Education and School Principal, you lead preschool operations at the principal level with delegation from the board. You have overall responsibility for leading, developing, and following up on the municipality's preschool operations through principals and other managers. The assignment includes creating conditions for high quality, equity, and long-term sustainable operations with a focus on children's learning, security, and development. You are responsible for the strategic development of operations and for governance and monitoring within quality, finances, and work environment to ensure that operations comply with school legislation, curricula, and political objectives. You lead and develop principals in their educational leadership and drive development work based on research, proven experience, and the municipality's overall objectives. You also drive strategic development initiatives at the department level and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, independent school operators, and other departments within the municipality. The assignment includes developing decision-making materials and administrative statements as well as conducting investigations at the board's request. You represent preschool operations in board processes and in dialogue with political leadership, where you contribute both expertise and a holistic perspective. The role includes representing the employer in central collaboration and contributing to good and trustworthy dialogue with labor organizations. You are part of the education department's management team and report to the department director. In this role, you actively contribute to the entire department's development. The assignment may also include responsibility for other management within educational operations based on organizational needs and future development. Qualifications We are looking for a confident, strategic, and clear leader with a strong ability to create structure, trust, and development in complex organizations. You have several years of experience in leadership at the department, principal, or strategic management level within preschool education and have led through other managers. You have experience with budget, resource allocation, and financial responsibility at the overall level, as well as a strong ability to create long-term sustainable operations. You have completed principal training and have a university education in education with a focus on preschool or other education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. It is an advantage if you have completed or begun state school principal training. As a leader, you are communicative, relationship-building, and have the ability to create trust and good collaboration while being persistent in change work. You have experience leading systematic quality work and can demonstrate good results in quality and development work within preschool education. You have experience with, and a good understanding of, governance and leadership in a politically managed organization, and you are comfortable navigating the interplay between politics, administration, and operations. You are driven by strong commitment to preschool's mission and have a good understanding of the special conditions that characterize preschool pedagogy and organization. You have the ability to combine a strategic perspective with practical operational understanding.
