The Ministry of Economics announces a competition for the position of Senior Specialist at the European Union Affairs Division of the Department of European Union and Foreign Economic Relations The European Union Affairs Division team at the Ministry of Economics is looking for an energetic, collaborative colleague. We expect that you: Possess knowledge and understanding of European Union institutions and decision-making processes, as well as the adoption and implementation of EU regulations in national legislation; Are interested in European Union and other international current issues and related processes; Are resourceful and comfortable navigating large volumes of information; Have strong communication skills in Latvian and English – both verbal and written (work with documents in English); Understand the competence issues of the Ministry of Economics and are able to formulate and express opinions both verbally and in writing, including preparing theses and speech materials; Are ready for active daily work and a dynamic work environment; Meet the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law; Have obtained higher education or second-level professional education (education in economics, business, or legal sciences will be considered an advantage); Have skills in working with MS Office programs and are ready to learn various information systems. Your job responsibilities will include: Coordinating and participating in the preparation and coordination of Latvia's National positions, instructions, and information reports within the competence of the Ministry of Economics, and overseeing the coordination of National positions and instructions prepared by other ministries in the ministry's areas of shared responsibility; Coordinating the process of implementation and adoption of European Union legal acts at the Ministry of Economics; Participating in the evaluation of European Union, EFTA, and European Free Trade Association court cases and related documents, including matters such as competitiveness and the European Union Single Market; Ensuring information circulation on OECD issues within the Ministry of Economics' competence areas.
