A SENIOR ADVISOR
We announce a competition for a Senior Advisor (civil servant) position for an indefinite period.
We are looking for:
Professional, courageous, and collaborative colleagues with excellent communication skills who meet the following criteria:
Compliance with the requirements of Part 5 of Article 3 of the Diplomatic and Consular Service Law and the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law;
Higher academic education at least at the bachelor's level or second-level professional higher education;
Knowledge of diplomatic and consular services;
General understanding of the European Union (EU) functioning and decision-making processes;
Ability to collect, structure, and analyze large volumes of information;
Capacity to express and argue opinions both orally and in writing;
Negotiation and interpersonal skills;
Ability to collaborate effectively with ministry and other ministries' experts in addressing issues within one's area;
Ability to make independent decisions and promptly resolve complex issues;
Excellent computer skills and ability to apply modern digital tools in daily work;
Ability to work independently under increased stress conditions, organizing work according to set deadlines;
English language skills at least at B2 level; knowledge of other foreign languages will be considered an advantage;
Knowledge and understanding of foreign policy, Latvia's foreign policy objectives, and the main tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
Understanding of EU transport and telecommunications sectors and/or EU legislative procedures will be considered an advantage.
We offer:
Monthly salary of EUR 1,640 during the probation period, EUR 1,840 after the probation period;

Main job responsibilities:
Continuously monitor the development and advancement of legislative acts and policy initiatives in the EU transport and telecommunications sectors at the European Commission, the Council, and the European Parliament, as well as member states' positions.
Prepare discussion topics for state officials on EU transport and telecommunications policy issues within the department's competence.
Monitor the development of Latvia's national positions in transport and telecommunications sectors and ensure their consistency with other sectoral positions within the department's competence and policy planning documents, as well as coordinate the preparation of instructions and information for COREPER I meetings.
Perform other tasks assigned by the department head within the department's established competence.
