STATE AGENCY OF MEDICINES announces an open competition for a vacant civil service position – Medicines Expert Laboratory Senior Expert - Analyst (for an indefinite period) Position purpose and main responsibilities: Ensure analysis of medicine samples using analytical methods specified in relevant regulatory documentation (RD) and the European Pharmacopoeia (EP), perform work related to medicine quality control. Profession code: 242209 Main responsibilities: conduct testing of medicine samples and active substances using physicochemical methods in accordance with methodologies specified in regulatory documentation and European Pharmacopoeia requirements; perform equipment calibration, qualification, and monitor the operation of equipment in use; participate in the development of standards, procedures, and other regulatory documents in the field of testing; develop and prepare testing methods for approval: reference material testing, participation in interlaboratory comparative testing, conducting parallel analyses. Requirements for candidates: compliance with requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law; higher academic education (Master's degree) in natural sciences (chemistry, biology, or related field); desirable practical work experience in analytical chemistry and application of instrumental methods: chromatography (HPLC, UHPLC, GC, TLC, etc.); titrimetry (KF, potentiometric, visual, etc.); instrumental methods (EP pharmacotechnical methods: dissolution, friability, hardness, particulate matter, etc.); non-instrumental methods; language skills: Latvian language – advanced level C1, English language – intermediate level B2; proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.) and experience working with databases.
