We are looking for a motivated and passionate professional ready to join the Ministry of Defence's Innovation and Research Policy Department team. What will you do? Independently coordinate international formats (Permanent Structured Cooperation in security and defence (PESCO) and European Defence Agency) research and development (R&D) and innovation and technology matters. Plan and implement the participation policy of defence industry and research institutions in EU support programmes. Formulate defence sector interests and objectives for participation in the European Defence Agency on research, technology and innovation matters, and represent the sector. Coordinate Latvia's participation in European Defence Fund projects and participate in the development of new EU industry programmes. Analyse and assess the impact of new technologies such as robotics, remotely piloted and autonomous systems on the defence sector and coordinate related projects in the defence sector. We are looking for you if you have: Research and project management skills: the ability to analyse data, draw conclusions and bring ideas to real results. Communication skills: excellent skills to collaborate with local and international experts, including in English. Very good English language skills (knowledge will be tested), as duties include representing the ministry and providing opinions in various international forums, preparing materials and documents in English. Academic or second-level professional higher education. Experience in scientific work in the private sector or international environment. Understanding of how different types of innovation are created. Interest and knowledge in the field of state defence. Compliance with the requirements of paragraph 9 of the Law "On State Secrets" and paragraph 7 of the State Civil Service Law. Basic digital skills. We will additionally appreciate if you have/possess: Passion for new technologies and interest in their application in the defence sector; Innovative thinking and the ability to see opportunities where others see obstacles, and the ability to think outside the box. To perform the duties of the position, it is necessary to independently use a national electronic identification solution, i.e. eSignature eID. The employee holding this position is subject to paragraph 23 of the first part of article 17 of the Law "On Emergency and Exceptional Situations".
