Örebro County is a landscape with lakes, waterways, and wetlands that are crucial for both biodiversity and people's quality of life. In the Species and Landscape Unit, we work to strengthen ecosystems and achieve environmental targets by coordinating measures, analyzing environmental data, and collaborating with stakeholders in the county. We are now seeking a water management officer who wants to help develop the county's water environments – from fish passages to restored wetlands.
Job Description
As a water management officer at the Regional Government Office in Örebro County, you will be an important part of our team working to improve water environments in the county. You will work with various assignments that enable water management measures in the county; a versatile assignment ranging from administrative tasks to fieldwork.
In this role, you will support and drive water management projects, for example within action programs for water and restoration of waterways. Collaborate with municipalities, authorities, and other stakeholders to achieve environmental quality standards in the Water Authorities' action programs. Contribute your expertise to work on the national plan for reassessment of hydropower's environmental conditions, with particular focus on fish passages and environmentally adapted water regulation. Participate in various projects handled by other units at the Regional Government Office.

Qualifications
We are seeking someone with
a degree from relevant higher education, for example with a focus on hydrology, limnetic ecology, fish biology, or equivalent that we consider equivalent
good knowledge of biology, limnology, or similar areas
good computer skills and experience writing reports, assignment orders, or similar documents
good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is beneficial if you have
experience reviewing and assessing surveys on environmental adaptations of water activities, for example fish and fauna passages or flow measures
experience implementing water and nature conservation projects, for example dam removal, construction of fauna passages, or habitat management in waterways
experience with authority functions at a regional government office, municipality, or similar
experience operating excavator machinery (e.g., in connection with restoration projects)
experience working with map and geodata (GIS)
ability to understand and communicate information in English.

Work tasks can vary and you need to be able to adapt to new priorities. You enjoy collaborating and contribute to a positive work environment.
