The Municipal Development Office employs approximately 200 people with the mission of making Sigtuna Municipality an attractive, vibrant, and safe place to live and work. We plan new residential and business areas. We design and build roads and water and sewage systems. We manage parks and forests as well as schoolyards, preschool yards, and playgrounds. We work with traffic issues, parking supervision, waste management, and much more. We handle regulatory matters and exercise supervision and control as well as issue permits within our areas. JOB DUTIES The Water and Environmental Planner has overall responsibility for the municipality's strategic water management work and independently or with support from project managers drives water management projects of various types, from planning to implementation to achieve good water status. As a Water and Environmental Planner, you work with water and environmental issues in the urban planning process from master plan to implementation. You ensure that required surveys are carried out and review the accompanying reports. Your close collaboration with, among others, the municipal ecologist and the water and sewage company forms an important basis for physical planning and development of the municipality's nature and water environments. Together with our current Water and Environmental Planner, you form a strong team that implements the municipality's high ambitions for stormwater issues in physical planning. The work of environmental planners includes actively monitoring changes and developments in the environmental field related to physical planning. You serve as an expert and provide advice and support to colleagues within the Municipal Development Office in physical planning, but you are also important support to other departments, such as the Building and Environmental Department and the operational organization. The assignment also includes responding to referrals and citizen proposals. You may also process and project manage the development of governing documents within water and environmental issues. You will also represent Sigtuna Municipality in regional collaboration groups and in various collaboration projects with surrounding municipalities. You are the municipality's contact person and participate in networks with, for example, the municipal company Sigtuna Vatten och Renhållning AB, and have many external contacts such as the Water Authority, the County Administrative Board, and others. QUALIFICATIONS We seek you with academic education of at least three years with a focus on water and environmental issues, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have worked for a few years with similar tasks, preferably within public service. You have good knowledge of applicable legislation and monitor developments in the field. Education in limnology and experience working with freshwater environments connected to physical planning is meritorious. You have knowledge of and experience in physical planning, such as the Planning and Building Act, and are accustomed to working broadly and innovatively with environmental issues. We would prefer that you have good knowledge of stormwater management in urban planning. A driver's license (category B) is a requirement as the position involves travel. You need to have good social skills, as the job requires collaboration with other departments and municipal companies as well as with authorities and other landowners. You are solution-oriented and see solutions to problems that arise and opportunities in changes. You enjoy working strategically and in collaboration with other areas of expertise to find development areas within the urban planning process. You enjoy taking responsibility and have a very good ability to plan and balance your work. It is important that you can communicate clearly both in writing and orally.
