The Culture and Recreation Administration is responsible for the municipality's cultural and recreational activities, and our main task is to help people take advantage of and develop their interests in culture, leisure, and sports. We serve all residents of the municipality, but children and young adults are a prioritized target group. We are expanding our work team with a number of part-time hosts for our facilities at Kulturhuset Komedianten, including Varberg Theatre and Varberg Art Hall, as well as Gallery Hamnmagasinet. WORK TASKS
The tasks are varied and suitable for you who enjoy meeting people, feel comfortable in social settings, and are not afraid to pitch in where needed.
As a host at Varberg Theatre, you are the person who, before an event, ensures the lounge is prepared, receives performing artists, arranges refreshments, and prepares for audience entry.
When the audience is ready to be admitted, you check tickets, inform about any intermissions and restroom locations.
You are also responsible for safety and will receive relevant training and briefings so you feel secure in an evacuation situation or similar.
As a host at Varberg Art Hall and Gallery Hamnmagasinet, you are the person who first meets visitors.
You can provide information about the exhibitions and conduct introductions or guided tours as needed or when scheduled.
The job thus involves varied work tasks, and as an applicant you are equally enthusiastic about working as an audience host as you are about being an art host.
Evening and weekend shifts occur frequently. Sometimes you receive your schedule well in advance, but sometimes requests to work may come with short notice.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you with relevant education, preferably higher education with a focus on events, art, or culture, or equivalent experience. You are at least 18 years old and previous experience in some form of hosting is a merit.
You have a strong interest in art and culture, good language skills in Swedish and English, and other languages are also a merit. You are social, enjoy working with people, and can work independently on tasks. You have no problem conducting guided tours and speaking to groups.
It is an advantage if you live in or near Varberg as there is sometimes a need to bring in hosts on short notice.
A driver's license for a car is not required but is a merit.
We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and make a comprehensive assessment of your combined competencies.
Salary form: Hourly wage.
Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration, start date: 2026-09-14 Start according to agreement, end date: 2027-09-13.
The amount of work time varies greatly, but we estimate it could average around 10 hours per month.
