Description:

About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and inmate transportation. The Stockholm West operational area in the beautiful Ekerö municipality includes the open prison Svartsjö, the semi-open women's prison Färingsö, and the Färingsö remand facility. Approximately 170 employees and ten managers oversee, lead, and develop operations that accommodate about 270 inmates. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but the facility also employs healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others. Inmates participate in education, various treatment programs, or work in woodworking and handicraft industries, packaging, and assembly. Inmates also operate an organic farm with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. Both prisons are within walking distance of each other and are accessible by bus or car. At both facilities, you park free of charge in our staff parking area. Responsibilities As a commanding officer (VO), you will operationally lead and distribute daily work at the prison/remand facility in consultation with the prison inspectors. Decision-making follows the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's regulations. Outside office hours, the commanding officer is the highest local operational decision-maker under the chief warden on call. Within the Stockholm West operational area, a total of ten commanding officers will work – a team of five at Färingsö prison and a team of five at Svartsjö prison. These ten commanding officers will together form the Stockholm West operational area's commanding officer group with a shared manager. The group will work closely together on procedures and structure and will cover for each other during training, leave, or other absences.
