Within the administration, there are operations for urban development where water and wastewater, waste, environment, construction, property management, and development are included. The position is located within the planning unit of the water and wastewater department, which currently consists of seven people. The position is based in Vallhamn, right by the sea and harbor. The group is relatively small but has high expertise in various areas and complements each other's knowledge. The planning unit also collaborates closely with other units. 2 position(s). WORK DUTIES We are seeking a water and wastewater engineer who, together with our planning unit, works to ensure access to clean water and functioning wastewater systems, and helps build sustainable infrastructure based on new requirements, increasing population, and climate change. As a water and wastewater engineer, you will safeguard the water and wastewater unit's interests throughout the entire urban development process. The municipality faces challenges regarding water and wastewater supply and needs to invest significantly in coming years. The municipality works strategically with pipe renewal, stormwater/flooding issues, and the realization of developed water and wastewater service plans. The administration has created models of the pipe network that make it easier to work strategically with the infrastructure and future needs. As we are a smaller organization, you will play a central role in the development of the water and wastewater infrastructure and the challenges and opportunities we face. You will be responsible for water and wastewater and stormwater-related matters in various projects and detailed plans. This can include independently managing your own projects as well as contributing as a subject matter expert. You will investigate and handle various cases, respond to referrals and detailed plans that come for consultation and review, and handle inquiries from various authorities, etc. You will also conduct investigations regarding measures on wastewater, stormwater, and water pipe networks. Depending on your expertise, interests, and need to assist with other matters in the unit, such as connection issues, agreements, design, damage compensation matters, etc. As a water and wastewater engineer, you are offered a varied and diverse job, from reviewing documentation to field visits, to long-term coordination and planning of sustainable urban development with many stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking someone with engineering education in road and water infrastructure and/or other education in urban development/engineering that the employer deems equivalent. We prefer that you have several years of experience as a water and wastewater engineer or as a project manager for water and wastewater projects. If you are the right person, we would welcome your application even if you don't have extensive work experience in the field. It is advantageous if you have worked broadly within various water and wastewater areas. You should have practical experience working in municipal operations with water and wastewater matters or experience working as a consultant for municipal water and wastewater operations. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge/experience regarding connection issues, agreements, design, water and wastewater law, and water and wastewater database (mapping/surveying). Since you will have many contacts both internally and externally, you should have good communication skills, express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish, and have strong collaboration skills.
