Sundbyberg City is developing a central function with instructional coaches who support schools in targeted initiatives to increase goal achievement and strengthen teaching quality. We are now looking for an instructional coach with a focus on Swedish and/or Swedish as a Second Language.
This is an assignment for you who are a highly skilled teacher and who are driven by developing other teachers' instruction. The assignment is practice-based and involves working together with teachers and school leadership at various schools in the municipality to strengthen teaching and student results.
Initiatives are carried out at the request of the principal based on identified needs related to teaching and goal achievement.
About the assignment
As an instructional coach, you work closely with teachers and school leadership in classrooms where students' results need to be strengthened. The assignment involves developing teaching practice through concrete and long-term support to teachers and teaching teams.
You will, among other things:
conduct teaching observations and analyze teaching and learning environments
coach teachers in planning, implementing, and following up on instruction
model teaching and deliver instruction together with teachers
contribute teaching materials, work methods, and didactic tools
analyze student work, results, and teaching practice to identify development areas
support the development of language-, reading-, and writing-development instruction
lead professional dialogues and contribute to collegial learning
contribute to sustainable work methods that strengthen teachers' own teaching capacity over time
work closely with the principal on follow-up and development initiatives
You will work together with the department's quality strategist, who focuses on process, structure, and organizational levels in close collaboration with school leadership. Together, you will contribute to comprehensive and sustainable development work in the schools.
The assignment covers schools from preschool–grade 9 through upper secondary school. You therefore need to be comfortable meeting various teaching situations and adapting your support based on the school's needs.
We are looking for you who
are a certified teacher with credentials in Swedish and/or Swedish as a Second Language
have several years of teaching experience with good results
have very strong didactic competence in language, reading, and writing development
are skilled at creating relationships and building trust with colleagues
have experience with coaching, collegial learning, or teaching development
have strong ability to analyze teaching and translate analysis into concrete development work
are comfortable leading professional conversations and providing constructive feedback
work independently, in an organized manner, and with a solution-oriented approach
You need to be comfortable working closely with teachers in challenging teaching situations and be able to translate analysis into concrete teaching practice.
Qualifications
It is a requirement that you:
are a certified teacher with credentials in Swedish and/or Swedish as a Second Language
have experience coaching and supporting colleagues in teaching development
have experience with school development, for example as a lead teacher, instructional coach, or similar assignment
It is a merit if you:
have experience with language and knowledge-developing work methods
have experience working with students in need of support or with low goal achievement
have special education competence or training
have experience with observation and feedback on instruction
have experience working closely with school leadership on development issues
have experience teaching in multilingual learning environments

The position is a permanent full-time employment with central placement within Sundbyberg City and assignment at various schools in the municipality. Start date by agreement. Probation period may apply.
