The Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate (ISF) is an analysis and supervisory authority that examines and evaluates the social insurance sector. ISF analyzes legal certainty, administrative efficiency, and effects on individuals and society. The mission includes, among other things, reviewing the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Pensions Agency, and relevant parts of the Swedish Tax Agency. ISF currently employs approximately 50 people, with the majority being investigators with undergraduate or research degrees in fields such as public health, public administration, business economics, law, national economics, statistics, political science, and sociology. Job Responsibilities As an investigator, you examine, analyze, and evaluate issues primarily concerning legal certainty and efficiency within social insurance. This involves both how the agencies administering the insurance operate and how the insurance functions for individuals. Work is conducted in project form, and you work as a project leader or project team member in one or more projects. Together with colleagues from different educational backgrounds, you initiate, structure, and conduct high-quality investigations from project concept to completed inspection report within given timeframes. You contribute your perspectives—with the whole picture in focus—to provide a comprehensive analysis of various issues. A project typically runs for approximately one year or longer and results in a report submitted to the government and the organizations being reviewed. Work duties include participating in developing ideas for new inspection projects identifying relevant methods for evaluation and analysis collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data writing reports and brief summaries presenting results in various contexts responding to government referrals maintaining contact with the organizations being reviewed, the Government Offices, the research community, other networks, and media. Some inspections are conducted by government commission, while others are initiated by the agency. As an employee, you have a say in shaping the direction of the organization's activities. Required Qualifications The investigators we are seeking must have experience in qualified research work or research a relevant academic degree in subjects such as public administration, national economics, sociology, political science, statistics, law, or criminology It is advantageous if you have experience in research work using quantitative methods, such as impact evaluation experience in research work using qualitative methods deep or broad knowledge of social insurance experience as secretary in a state public investigation experience conducting qualified analyses of governance and organization in public organizations, for example through organizational and governance studies or organizational and governance inspections, efficiency audits, or operational audits experience conducting analyses within the social insurance sector experience in project management. As an investigator at ISF, you need to independently be able to initiate, structure, and conduct high-quality investigations from idea generation to completed report within given timeframes. The work requires a strong ability to write and present inspection results clearly and understandably in report form in Swedish. You need to be able to communicate results to different target audiences with varying knowledge of social insurance. You also need to have excellent collaboration skills and be responsive in your relationships with others. You are self-directed, proactive, and solutions-focused.
