About the Position As an intensive care nurse, you care for patients of all ages who are critically ill with organ failure in one or more organs. Modern intensive care focuses on preventing and treating existing organ failure. Both Falun and Mora are general intensive care units that serve patients from all clinical departments at their respective hospitals. Your duties include handling, performing, and evaluating prescribed medical procedures. You work with monitoring and operating advanced medical equipment and medications. Based on each patient's individual care needs, you identify, assess, perform, and evaluate nursing interventions. As an intensive care nurse, you're also responsible for creating a good care environment that promotes the patient's and their family's psychological, physical, and social well-being. Job Responsibilities We now offer registered nurses the opportunity to further specialize as a specialist nurse in intensive care while maintaining your base salary during your studies. This is called an educational position and is a permanent full-time employment placed at ICU in Falun or ICU Mora. The programs start in spring 2027. We collaborate with Gävle University, which offers the program through Campus Dalarna. Qualifications You are a licensed nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing science or equivalent nursing degree of 180 credits including 15 credits for thesis work. We'd like you to have several years of experience working as a nurse. You should be flexible and stable with strong stress management abilities. As an intensive care nurse, you work proactively—anticipating needs and being ready for unexpected situations. You should collaborate well with other professional categories since patient care is teamwork. Employment You'll receive a permanent position as a nurse at ICU Falun or ICU Mora. During school terms, you'll have an educational position with a base nurse salary. The number of educational positions will be determined after the application deadline. Region Dalarna collaborates with Gävle University. We prefer that you apply to the program there first to ensure your practical training (VFU) placement in Region Dalarna. While it's possible to apply to other institutions, practical placement in the region cannot be guaranteed. These educational positions are offered subject to required financing decisions being made.
