Department of Economics The Procurement Unit at SLU is now seeking a junior procurement officer who is early in their career as a procurement professional, has experience with public procurement, and wants to continue developing in the role. About the Job As a procurement officer at SLU, you are responsible for and conduct procurements of goods and services needed for the university to conduct research and education. We are responsible for all procurement of the university's needs for goods and services above the direct procurement threshold. Procurements are conducted on behalf of and in collaboration with various institutions and departments within SLU. The procurements are highly varied since SLU conducts research and education in many different areas. The University Animal Hospital, agricultural operations at Lövsta, Skara and Umeå, Aquatic resources in Lysekil, and wildlife research in Umeå and Grimsö are examples of activities supported by the procurement unit. The work encompasses the entire procurement process from market research, preparation of request documents, advertising, evaluation of incoming bids, and contract writing. The work also includes providing information and advice to institutions and departments on procurement matters. You will also participate in the unit's development work together with other colleagues. Your Background You should have a university degree with relevant focus, or equivalent education and knowledge acquired in other ways. You should have experience conducting procurements in the public sector according to the Public Procurement Act (LOU). The work requires that you have good computer and system skills, very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English in both speech and writing. As a procurement officer, you have the ability to be proactive and able to work both independently and in groups. You have good analytical abilities and are thorough, structured, and responsible. The Procurement Unit is valued in SLU's operations. It is important that you as a person are positive, solution-oriented, and have a consultative approach. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. The unit, which is part of the Department of Economics, consists of procurement officers, contract controllers, and e-commerce coordinators. The unit consists of a total of eight people. SLU is to be climate neutral by 2027, and procurement with a climate focus is an important tool for reaching the goal.
