Mid Sweden University/Mittuniversitetet is located in the heart of the South Sámi area in Saepmie. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a multi-campus department with operations at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department's activities include research and education in the subjects of: English, Gender Studies, History, Criminology, Literature, Social Science, Sociology, Political Science, Swedish as a Second Language, and Swedish Language. Research is conducted within each subject area as well as within the Risk and Crisis Research Center (RCR), the Forum for Gender Studies (FGV), and DEMICOM. Job Duties Your responsibilities include teaching, supervision, and examination, primarily at the basic level within the sociology program. Teaching will mainly be conducted at Campus Östersund, in the Personnel and Working Life Program and the Risk and Crisis Management Program. Teaching in sociology's distance education offerings and at advanced levels may also be relevant. Your responsibilities also include your own research, with allocated time for research, professional development, and administration corresponding to 15% of scheduled working time. The position holder is expected to contribute through their activities to the development of the sociology subject and to the pedagogical and research-related environment at Mid Sweden University's locations, particularly at Campus Östersund. The position includes administration in accordance with applicable working time agreements and local guidelines. Qualifications To be employed as a university lecturer, you must meet the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations and in the regulations and guidelines of the Faculty of Humanities. Qualified for employment as a University Lecturer in Sociology is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and who has completed a doctoral degree or possesses equivalent scientific competence, or has other professional expertise of relevance to the subject content and duties of the position. Other Requirements The applicant must be able to perform administrative and pedagogical tasks that require understanding of and ability to use the Swedish language. Teaching takes place primarily in Swedish, so strong Swedish language skills are of great importance. The position holder is further expected to contribute through their activities to the development and cohesion of the subject. You have strong pedagogical insight and the ability to adapt your communication to different audiences. You work independently and in a structured manner, take responsibility for your assignments, and drive work forward. You have good collaborative skills, are attentive, and contribute to a positive work environment. You also communicate clearly and professionally in both spoken and written form. Evaluation Criteria The degree of competence required for qualification for employment shall be used as evaluation criteria when hiring a lecturer. Equal attention is given to assessing pedagogical skill as to scientific skill. Experience with teaching and research in risk and crisis management as well as working life and organization is meritorious. Experience with methods instruction is also meritorious. Processing Preparation of the position follows the procedures specified in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.
