Subject Description Small animal surgery encompasses surgery, primarily in dogs and cats, and includes subdisciplines such as soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, as well as dentistry, ophthalmology, and orthopedics. Within the field, methodological development is conducted for improved diagnostics, prognostication, treatment, and prevention of diseases, injuries, and complications, including studies of risk factors. Duties The position holder shall within the field of employment develop and lead internationally successful research. develop, lead, and participate in teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels primarily teach in small animal surgery, but also participate in other educational activities at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels where the subject is included develop and maintain national and international networks with academia, relevant authorities, industry, organizations, and society at large collaborate with other research groups at SLU to strengthen the university's interdisciplinary activities seeking external research funding at both national and international levels supervise doctoral candidates and candidates undergoing specialist training actively participate in clinical work and teaching contribute to the department's, faculty's, and SLU's strategic development communicate research results and other relevant subject information to the surrounding society perform administrative tasks within the department, faculty, and university The department has a parallel language work environment. The University Lecturer will be able to perform most of their tasks in English. As a public authority, the university has Swedish as its primary language according to the language law's requirements, and the position holder is expected to be able to communicate in Swedish within four years from the start of employment. When assessing pedagogical skill, consideration is given to planning, implementation, examination, and evaluation of own teaching experience in both theoretical and clinical teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels supervision and examination at undergraduate and advanced levels the ability to integrate research and a scientific approach in pedagogical work higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge pedagogical vision and reflection.
