Media Production is part of a larger research environment, Dalarna Audiovisual Academy (DAVA), where you are expected to participate actively and thereby contribute to the development of both research and teaching. DAVA encompasses bachelor's and master's programs in Audiovisual Studies. Within undergraduate education, this position plays a central role in strengthening the progression between creative practice, technical understanding, and analytical perspectives in DAVA's program offerings, while in research it contributes to the development of the field of, about, and through media production in close collaboration with industry actors. Your Daily Work as a University Lecturer This position concerns teaching and research in Media Production at the Media Production Department. The position includes teaching and supervision in media production at undergraduate and advanced levels with a focus on scientific problem-solving, writing, theory, and methodology. Teaching also includes practical production elements in media production. The duties include course responsibility and course development in various educational programs at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as other administrative tasks. Academic leadership tasks such as program responsibility and subject responsibility may be included. Are You the Person We're Looking For? According to the Higher Education Ordinance and Employment Regulations, to be eligible for employment as a university lecturer in fields other than artistic activities, you must have demonstrated pedagogical skill and hold a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence, or possess other professional skills relevant to the subject content and work tasks of the position. This position requires: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a media production-related field of knowledge. This includes, but is not limited to, media technology, innovation and design, informatics, visual communication, or interaction design. Production experience, preferably in film, advertising, TV production, or game development. Active in research, documented through scientific publications and participation in research projects during the past three years. Applicants must have strong command of both Swedish and English in speech and writing. It is meritorious if you have: Experience with specific production tools. At least five years of teaching experience at both bachelor's and master's levels. Higher education pedagogy education. When assessing pedagogical skill, weight will be given to: Ability to create conditions for student learning and ability to generate engagement and interest in the subject. Teaching experience at various levels. Experience supervising thesis or degree projects. When assessing scientific skill, particular weight will be given to: Breadth and depth in research. Research production's relevance in relation to the employment profile. Independence and innovation capacity as a researcher. Research scope demonstrated through nationally and/or internationally published works. Participation as applicant and/or co-applicant in national and/or international research funding calls. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the surrounding society through communication of research results. The role of university lecturer requires collaboration skills, and leadership ability may be significant. A large part of the work occurs in teams and in collaboration with the surrounding society, which may require strong initiative, administrative ability, and a high degree of responsibility-taking to succeed in the role. Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written, may be required. It is important that applicants lacking higher education pedagogy education are given the opportunity to acquire this competence as soon as possible. Assessment Criteria The university will conduct a qualitative overall assessment to determine which applicant is best suited to perform the tasks of the position. Equal care will be given to assessing pedagogical skill as scientific skill according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4. A pedagogical test will likely be used. A probationary period may apply. Högskolan Dalarna operates at two locations. This position is based in Falun. The position requires physical presence in Falun as all teaching takes place on campus.
