Background
The School of Business at Örebro University is a place where education and research are conducted in four subjects: business administration, computer science, economics, and statistics. We are accredited by AACSB, the world's largest accrediting organization and network for business schools, an achievement reached by only five percent of the world's 16,000 business schools.
The Computer Science Department, with 20 staff members, is seeking a university lecturer who can teach in both of our programs and contribute to our research. The department currently offers education in the Systems Science Program and the Master's Program in Computer Science – with a focus on information security management and governance. The Systems Science Program aims to educate IT consultants who can integrate business and software development. Students are trained in various business and systems development methods as well as programming environments to provide them with broad knowledge in systems development. The international master's program aims to educate professionals for leadership positions in information security. Students are trained to govern information security through administrative, social, and technical measures. Both programs offer opportunities for internships and work-based learning.
Computer Science conducts research in the Centre for Empirical Research on Information Systems (CERIS). CERIS conducts research on the digitalization of organizations and society based on four main themes: Human aspects of information security, Management and governance of systems development, Computer science education, and Health and well-being. Research is typically conducted in collaboration with businesses or government agencies – practice-based research is central. The department also offers an educational program at the doctoral level.
Job Responsibilities
As a university lecturer, you will dedicate your time to both teaching at all levels and research, as well as related collaboration. Your duties include teaching, research, collaboration, development work, administration, and professional development. Teaching also encompasses supervision, examination, course development, planning, and evaluation.
In addition to teaching in both the Systems Science Program and the Master's Program in Computer Science with a focus on information security management and governance, work within doctoral education may also be included. Your duties also include applying for external research funding and staying current with developments in the field through professional development and your own research.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, you must have demonstrated pedagogical skills and have a doctoral degree in a relevant subject area, or equivalent scientific competence, or other professional expertise relevant to the position's subject content and duties.
A general qualification requirement for employment as a teacher is completion of higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least 10 weeks. Competence equivalent to higher education pedagogical training can be assessed and deemed to meet the qualification requirement. A teacher who lacks pedagogical training or equivalent competence at the time of employment must complete the training within two years of taking up the position.
Assessment Criteria
When hiring teachers, both scientific and pedagogical skills are evaluated with equal care. Assessment also includes merit from collaboration with the society of which the university is a part, as well as national and international experience and mobility.
