About the Workplace At the Unit for Police Work at Umeå University, police education is conducted on behalf of the Police Authority. We maintain continuous development in our work of educating professional police officers who act for a safer society, for the development of Swedish police, and for lifelong learning. Within the main subject Police Work, we also offer standalone courses and a master's program. We also conduct advanced training for practicing police officers as well as other external education and external research activities. The Unit is led by a director and we have approximately 30 employees; in addition, we purchase teaching services internally at UMU, as well as externally from the Police Authority - in total, about eighty colleagues are involved in the activities. The Unit for Police Work is now announcing a position as University Lecturer in Police Work with a specialization in interrogation. Application deadline: 2026-08-10 Primary Responsibilities Work as a University Lecturer at the Unit for Police Work consists mainly of teaching in basic and advanced education. It includes everything from responsibility for planning and developing teaching and supervision to implementation and follow-up. This recruitment primarily addresses the need for teaching in standalone courses in police work, as well as teaching in interrogation methodology in the Police Program. Qualifications According to the Employment Regulations at Umeå University, a person is eligible for employment as a University Lecturer if they hold a degree at the master's level or have other professional skills that are relevant to the subject matter and work tasks of the position. Assessment Criteria and Weighting Specific assessment criteria are professional skills in the field of interrogation, as well as pedagogical skills. Scientific skills also constitute an assessment criterion. When assessing professional skills, experience from work within the Police Authority or other law enforcement activities is considered advantageous. When assessing pedagogical skills, particular attention is given to experience in teaching or education at higher education institutions. Pedagogical higher education is considered advantageous, as is experience from teaching in police education. When assessing scientific skills, particular attention is given to experience in scientific work and scientific production. A general assessment criterion for teachers at Umeå University is both good collaboration skills and the competence and suitability otherwise needed to perform work tasks well. Particular emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to perform administrative and pedagogical tasks that require good understanding and use of the Swedish language, since teaching is conducted in Swedish. Particular emphasis will also be placed on professional skills related to interrogation methodology, as well as pedagogical skills. When weighing these assessment criteria, pedagogical skills will be given greater weight. Some weight will also be given to scientific skills. In making the appointment, the university will primarily consider the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skills, is deemed to have the best qualifications to carry out the current work tasks.
