The Faculty of Technology (FTK) has broad activities spanning eight different departments through which Linnaeus University provides education and conducts research. Technical education ranges from short courses lasting a few weeks or months to five-year civil engineering programs. The research addresses society's needs in several broad fields – both in the short and long term – with fundamental research and applied research in collaboration with societal actors. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is part of the knowledge environments Advanced Materials and Green Sustainable Development, and in "Linnaeus University Centre for Data Intensive Sciences and Applications (DISA)," which is one of Linnaeus University's leading research environments. The department conducts research in applied mechanics, maintenance systems and quality systems, production systems, and power electronics. The research is conducted in close collaboration with other departments as well as the business sector. The Division of Electrical Engineering is responsible for the technical engineering program in electrical engineering and the master's program in renewable electricity systems. In addition to these programs, we contribute to a number of educational programs at FTK. Research education is not organized as a separate subject but takes place within mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or another related field. Job Description: The work tasks mainly include teaching, academic administration, collaboration assignments, and personal professional development. Teaching consists of courses in the field of electrical engineering with special focus on courses in power electronics, electrical power systems, and applied electronics. In addition to teaching and course development, mentoring of project work and supervision of thesis projects are included. The subject offers education at the technical engineering and master's levels and contributes to the faculty's civil engineering program. Developing collaboration between the university, the business sector, and the surrounding society is an important part of Linnaeus University and the Faculty of Technology. The work may also include development of commissioned education and various types of academic administrative assignments within the university. The lecturer is also expected to work on personal professional development in close connection with one of the department's research environments and projects. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer at Linnaeus University, one must have completed a master's degree in electrical engineering or have equivalent competence, and demonstrated pedagogical skill. For eligibility for this position, professional experience as a teacher, educator, or developer in the subject of electrical engineering – or related subjects such as computer science or physics with a special focus on electrical engineering – is required. Good ability to teach in Swedish and good ability to express oneself both in writing and orally in Swedish is required for this position. For this position, demonstrated collaboration skills and administrative competence are also required. The applicant must have the prerequisites to participate in teaching and collaborative work at the physical workplace. Evaluation Criteria In hiring a university lecturer, the degree of skill required for eligibility for the position shall apply. Beyond the qualifications listed above, documented experience in specific technical areas within electrical engineering such as electronics, power electronics, or electrical power systems is considered particularly meritorious. Documented experience with laboratory teaching or other practical applications within the subject area is considered particularly meritorious. Experience from academic administration is also particularly meritorious. Documented experience with control systems, control engineering, digital technology, automation, mechatronics, and embedded systems is also meritorious. Furthermore, it is meritorious if the applicant has completed higher education pedagogy training. Otherwise, higher education pedagogy training must be completed during the first two years of employment. Finally, it is meritorious to have relevant experience from industry and/or other societal actors.
