The Department of Economic History is research-intensive and employs approximately 70 people: researchers, teachers, technical/administrative staff, and doctoral students. The department has extensive doctoral education and coordinates two international master's programs. The position is for three months, starting October 1, 2026, at the Department of Economic History, School of Economics. The position is 100 percent full-time. Field of Study and Responsibilities The field of study is economic history with a focus on development, labor markets, and colonial legacies. The position consists of teaching, and administrative tasks may also be included. Teaching may be at the undergraduate and advanced levels and will focus on development economics, labor markets, colonialism, and long-term development processes, with particular emphasis on Africa and other parts of the Global South. Teaching will be conducted in both Swedish and English. Qualifications A doctoral degree in Economic History and demonstrated pedagogical skill are required. Requirements Very good knowledge of English and Swedish, both spoken and written. Completed higher education pedagogy training comprising at least 5 weeks or equivalent knowledge. Evaluation Criteria The School of Economics seeks a balance between research and teaching in all positions. Therefore, equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical skill in the evaluation of applicants. Administrative ability is also considered in the assessment. In the overall assessment of scientific skill, a doctoral degree in Economic History and publications in journals or publishing houses with international peer review systems are strongly meriting, as is experience with national and international collaboration and participation in research networks. Furthermore, the degree of ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and communicate research is taken into account. In the overall assessment of pedagogical qualifications, higher education pedagogy training, pedagogical experience, and pedagogical skill are included. Experience with teaching and course development in economic history with a focus on development economics, labor markets, colonialism, and long-term development processes is a merit. Consideration will be given to how the applicant, through their experience and expertise, can be assessed to complement and strengthen education and research within the department.
