Description of the Workplace The Civil Aviation College (TFHS) is Sweden's only state-owned civil flight school. We train civil pilots for the MPL certificate through our vocational higher education program for commercial pilots, as well as military transport, special operations, and drone pilots. TFHS is part of Lund University's Department of Aerospace Sciences. Our operations are based at Campus Ljungbyhed, where in addition to training civil and military pilots and drone pilots, we conduct research in sustainable aviation, unmanned aircraft, and aviation safety. Learn more about us on our website: Trafikflyghögskolan Field of Study Aeronautical Sciences Specific Field Description The field combines both theoretical and practical content and includes training at the ATP level (Airline Transport Pilot) and MPL(A) (Multi Crew Pilot License). Job Responsibilities The position involves working as both a flight instructor and theory instructor. Flight instructor responsibilities include training on the school's aircraft and in the school's flight simulators. Theory instructor responsibilities include managing education and development in one or more flight-related subjects. Additionally, administrative work is included, such as manual tasks not directly connected to teaching itself. Job responsibilities may also include: Teaching at the undergraduate level. Supervising thesis students. Collaboration with industry and society. Participation in research projects. Administration related to the above tasks. Communicating and building strong relationships with various stakeholders in education. Engaging students and meeting student needs for optimal results. Qualifications To qualify as a university lecturer, you must have: A completed degree at the advanced level or equivalent knowledge acquired through other means, plus additional competence relevant to the field of study and the job responsibilities. Demonstrated teaching competence. Five weeks of higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge acquired through other means, unless there are special circumstances. Other Requirements CPL(A) certificate (Commercial Pilot License) or MPL(A) certificate (Multi Crew Pilot License) with ATP theory. 1,500 hours of experience as a pilot in multi-crew operations in heavy aircraft. Initiative and drive. Structured approach. High professional integrity and the ability to make objective and fair assessments based on established criteria. Ability to engage and inspire students in flight training, create challenges, and provide support to achieve optimal learning outcomes. Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with both students and other instructors. Excellent proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Assessment Criteria When hiring a university lecturer, the following will form the basis for evaluation: Strong subject knowledge relevant to the position's content and responsibilities. Good teaching ability, which means strong capability to conduct and develop teaching and other educational activities at various levels using different teaching methods. Very good professional experience or other experience relevant to the position. Evaluation of teaching competence shall be based on documented educational initiatives demonstrating good understanding of learning processes with focus on student learning, both at the group and individual level. Additional Merits: Regardless of whether the position involves flight and/or theory responsibilities, it is advantageous if the applicant can demonstrate: FI qualification (Flight Instructor). 200 hours as a flight instructor. IR and MCC qualifications. CRI/SFI/TRI or equivalent. Type rating on jet/turboprop aircraft. Documented experience with administrative work including strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Work experience from an airline or the Swedish Armed Forces. Other Information The position is located at the airport in Ljungbyhed. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 07:30–16:30; however, simulator training may be conducted slightly before or after these times. A probationary period may apply.
