Youth Outreach is part of the municipality's long-term preventive work for children and young people, working proactively, building relationships, and creating security throughout the municipality. The activities target children and young people between 10 and 19 years old and take place in close collaboration with schools, social services, police, recreational activities, and community organizations. The Culture and Recreation Department is one of Mjölby Municipality's six departments. Together with our employees, we create opportunities for the municipality's visitors and residents to experience and participate in a diverse recreational and cultural life. We operate activities in-house and support culture and recreation activities run by non-profit organizations, study associations, organizations, and other actors. The department includes libraries, swimming facilities, a cultural school, Youth Recreation, and other culture and recreation activities. Youth Outreach activities are organized within the Youth Recreation unit, which also includes recreation centers and the Leisure Equipment Library. Objectives of the assignment: Youth Outreach's mission is through presence, relationships, and collaboration to help more young people receive support at the right time, increase security for children and young people in the municipality, reduce the risk of exclusion and norm-breaking behavior. Strengthen young people's participation and access to meaningful recreation, and contribute to socially sustainable development in Mjölby Municipality. RESPONSIBILITIES As a youth outreach worker, you work both preventively and proactively to strengthen children's and young people's protective factors, promote participation, and contribute to increased security in the municipality. Your main responsibilities are to build long-term and trusting relationships with children and young people. You are present in the spaces where young people gather, such as schools, recreation centers, town centers, residential areas, and various public environments. You identify needs and pay early attention to young people at risk of vulnerability or norm-breaking behavior. You motivate and support young people toward positive change and active recreational choices. You guide young people and families to appropriate support services. When needed, you collaborate with guardians, schools, social services, police, community organizations, and other actors by participating in coordinated support meetings and other collaboration forums. You map trends, needs, and risk environments among the municipality's young people, plan and carry out information sessions, themed days, and activities for young people, document, follow up, and contribute to the development of the activities. The position includes evening and weekend work. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • Education in social work, behavioral science, social pedagogy, public health, or other education that the employer considers relevant. • Experience working with children and young people. • Strong ability to build relationships and create trust. • Good collaboration skills. • Strong ability to express yourself in speaking and writing in Swedish. It is an advantage if you have: • Experience in outreach or preventive youth work. • Experience with collaboration between schools, social services, police, and recreation. • Knowledge of crime prevention work and social sustainability. • Experience working with young people at risk. • Knowledge of substance abuse prevention and security-building work. • Valid driver's license (Category B) You have the ability to work with other people; to listen, show empathy and respect.
