As a new nursing assistant on the surgical department 10, you will be offered an introduction period of 3-5 weeks with the possibility of extension if needed. If you are an experienced nursing assistant, we will tailor the introduction to your needs. The introduction alternates between theory and practice. On the department, we work with competency cards for, for example, wound dressing changes, IV drips, stoma care, NEWS, EKG. As a new employee, you will be assigned a mentor. The department has a training manager who is there to ensure you get what you need during your introduction. Job Description We are looking for someone who enjoys challenges and constantly developing and acquiring new knowledge. Your work duties consist of basic patient care as well as a range of tasks specific to surgical and urological care such as wound dressing changes, stoma care, drainage management, catheterization, IV drip management and specimen collection. You work in a team/care group together with a nurse. You are jointly responsible for 5-6 patients and work to provide good care based on each patient's individual needs and resources. You will work alongside a supervisor for approximately 3-5 weeks and go through an introduction program. We use a wish schedule where you as an employee have a great opportunity to influence your schedule. The activities within the surgical clinic at Vrinnevisjukhuset are focused on diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and the body's endocrine system, as well as trauma. The clinic also has a urological unit with 6 beds. The clinic conducts both acute and planned operations. As a nursing assistant at the clinic, you work within the different sections. The work is varied in both pace and tasks. No two days are the same. We use Cosmic Nova Board and Nova Tablet. Work Group Around you are many professions and functions that are also part of the team, such as specialist nurses and advanced specialist nurses in surgical care, physicians, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers and others. We work closely together in the care team with, among other things, daily team rounds based on a specific round structure, check-ins and feedback. With us, there are opportunities for professional development, various side assignments, further training and a very good research climate. The department also conducts a Clinical Teaching Department (KUA) in collaboration with Linköping University, and this year we have been awarded the prize for the year's best clinical placement by the nursing section. About You We are looking for someone who is trained as a nursing assistant/specialist nursing assistant. We would like you to have experience as a nursing assistant. Previous experience working in acute care is a merit, especially within surgery. Since you work in constant dialogue with patients and colleagues, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You have good teamwork skills and can plan, organize and prioritize your work. You are confident and stable and have good self-awareness. You have a professional approach and good communication skills. We further see that you have empathy and have an easy time solving problems that arise along the way. You also have the ability to put things in their proper perspective and act professionally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
