The emergency department provides highly specialized acute care and we are one of Skåne University Hospital's (Sus) largest operations. We care for 65,000 patients per year, which makes us today also one of Sweden's largest emergency departments. The department is the hospital's entrance and is where the majority of patients begin their stay. Here you meet many people, which means that the work pace constantly varies and no two days are the same. We are approximately 300 employees who together are responsible for the first acute care of seriously ill and injured patients within medicine, infection, surgery, urology, and orthopedics. WORK DUTIES We are pleased to welcome new nursing assistants to our operation and look forward to working together to continue delivering high-quality care and service to our patients. In your role as a nursing assistant with us, your work day consists of common tasks within highly specialized acute care. You perform patient care and work in teams with nurses and doctors, among others. During your first time in the emergency department, you work in our non-linear teams to strengthen your clinical eye and get to know the emergency department's routines. After approximately one year, you will be introduced in the acute care room to receive priority 1 patients. As you work in the emergency department, you will gradually receive introduction in receiving ear, nose, and throat patients during on-call hours. As a nursing assistant in our emergency department, you also have the opportunity to take a plaster cast introduction to gain competence to work with the orthopedic flow. The standardized introduction period is five weeks, but it can be individually adapted in consultation with the unit manager and supervisor. We offer an introduction program with startup twice a year and it is provided together with newly hired nurses. With us there are good opportunities to be involved in and develop the operation. We offer our staff regular training both internally and externally for the purpose of increasing competence. At the emergency department in Lund, we offer a schedule with quota agreements, which means there is an opportunity to reduce the weekly working hours. You work 37 hours per week with combined day, evening, and night shifts as well as two weekends in five weeks. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant and meet the National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for protected occupational title regardless of whether you studied according to previous or current program structure. Good language skills in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, are a requirement. It is meritorious with experience of work as a nursing assistant in hospital operations such as emergency department or acute care. You may also have specialist training in acute care and experience working with ear, nose, and throat patients. To succeed in the role of nursing assistant with us, it is important that you can collaborate in stressful situations and can easily adapt to changed circumstances.
