The Palliative Care Unit is organizationally part of the Close Care and Health Administration, operating unit mobile teams and specialized palliative care in southwestern Scania. We offer specialized palliative care with the aim of alleviating symptoms and preventing suffering related to terminal or chronic illness, regardless of age or diagnosis. Care can be provided as inpatient care on the unit which has six beds, enrollment in advanced home care (ASIH), outpatient care at our palliative clinic or at home and in special residential facilities. Care is specialized based on each individual patient's needs. The operation in Trelleborg is a unit consisting of a team with nurses, nursing assistants, social worker, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, dietitian, physician, psychologist, and medical secretary. WORK DUTIES In your role as a nursing assistant with us, you will perform nursing care for patients with specialized palliative needs. You will actively participate in planning the patient's daily care together with other professionals. The goal of specialized care is to collaborate with the patient and other care providers to alleviate the symptoms that trouble the patient in order to achieve the highest possible quality of life. This means meeting the patient's physical, psychological, and existential needs as well as providing support to family members around the clock. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and meets the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for a protected professional title regardless of whether you studied according to the previous or current program structure. Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. It is advantageous if you have experience as a nursing assistant, preferably in palliative care. If you have a specialist qualification in palliative care, that is also a merit. You are confident in your professional role and have a well-developed empathetic approach along with the ability to see the patient as an individual and their needs. Since part of the work involves support and conversations, it is important that you find it easy to communicate with both patients and family members and are empathetic, calm, and have the ability to meet people on different levels. Since the work is team-based, it is required that you have good collaboration skills and that with your positive attitude you contribute to a good work climate. You also have the ability to see the whole picture around the patient's and family's needs. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
