Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and for ensuring that research and innovation deliver results.
The Center for Musculoskeletal Health (ROC) Umeå is responsible for university hospital care in orthopedics, including spinal surgery in the Northern healthcare region, comprising the four northernmost counties. ROC is also the county hospital for orthopedics in Västerbotten and the regional hospital for the Umeå region.
The Center for Musculoskeletal Health is divided into the sections Arthro and Tumor, Factum, Trauma and Spine, all of which perform thousands of patient visits, treatments and surgical procedures annually. Together with the Surgery and Orthopedic Clinic in Lycksele and the Operative Unit in Skellefteå, we are responsible for all orthopedics in the county.
The Center for Musculoskeletal Health is a University Hospital Care Unit (USVE) where research and the mentoring of students is a natural part of daily clinical work.
Our comprehensive operations are viewed as stimulating by our staff, as the work is divided into different sections. This provides varied work and a broad medical knowledge base. We have operations with both breadth and depth, encompassing everything from assessments of patients' acute orthopedic problems in emergency care at the clinic and ward, to elective orthopedic operations and extensive fracture and trauma surgery.
The Center for Musculoskeletal Health is also responsible for the day surgery unit (DKE) located at NUS. At DKE, we care for patients who are part of several surgical specialties' day surgery flow.
DKE is responsible for the unit's personnel, operations, coordination, development and coordination with other surgical specialties.
