Do you want to contribute to Sweden's security by analyzing and understanding technical systems? Do you have experience with finite element programs and strong knowledge of mechanics and numerical analysis? Then you might be the person we're looking for in the Technical Intelligence unit for Land.
About the Position
On behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces and the Government, FMV conducts technical intelligence services in land, air, and naval domains to support Swedish foreign, security, and defense policy and to identify external threats to the country. The work is carried out within the framework of the government's direction of defense intelligence activities.
As an intelligence analyst, you will play a crucial role in mapping and analyzing foreign ground forces' technical systems, with a focus on weapons, effects, and protection. You will conduct qualified analyses, studies, tests, and experiments to create understanding of technical capabilities and development trends in the field. The work combines theoretical analyses with practical elements and offers variety in both tasks and work methods. Work is conducted both independently and in project form.
The role also includes planning and delivering training and lectures within your specialist area as well as related fields. The position may be physically and mentally demanding, and to give you the best possible conditions, you will undergo several internal and external trainings during your initial period.
The position is located in Stockholm and work is performed on-site. Travel occurs regularly in the role, both within and outside Sweden. Therefore, you need to be prepared to undergo any vaccinations that may be required as part of the work.
About You
We are looking for someone with a university or master's degree in engineering with relevant specialization, such as mechanical engineering, engineering physics, vehicle engineering, or similar, or alternatively other education or equivalent competence that FMV deems equivalent.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone with experience in technical work within weapons, effects, and protection. You have solid theoretical knowledge in mechanics and numerical analysis, as well as experience working with finite element models (FEM/FE). You master numerical calculations, material models, and analyses of rapid dynamic processes, and have knowledge of handling computational models, performing pre- and post-analyses, and validating computational results against tests and experiments.
You also have a strong ability to summarize and communicate complex models and results clearly, both orally and in writing, in both Swedish and English, as well as a Class B driver's license.
It is advantageous if you have experience working with FEM in defense technology, particularly related to weapons and protection systems. Experience with CAD tools, test and experiment activities, and work in military environments is also valuable. We also view positively experience from international collaborations and work in different cultural contexts, preferably with an established contact network. Knowledge of materiel used in the defense sector is advantageous, as is proficiency in Russian.
Personal qualities are very important to us. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences and are looking for someone who is active in social interaction, takes time for dialogue, and communicates with others in a respectful way. You work systematically with complex issues, weigh together information and different types of considerations in actions and decisions, with strong analytical abilities. You drive your work independently in an organized and structured manner while being flexible and able to adapt to changed circumstances. In such situations, you remain calm and focus on the right things. Furthermore, we believe you have drive and interest in the field, with specialist knowledge that you continuously maintain and improve.
