In January 2026, we launched an eight-month educational program to strengthen our future competency needs, and now we are looking for you—a registered nurse with the ambition to become an operating room nurse. The goal is for you to apply for specialist nurse education in perioperative care after the program concludes. Our aim is for the trainee program to prepare you well for your upcoming studies to become an operating room nurse.
Helsingborg Hospital is one of Region Skåne's four acute hospitals. Here, qualified acute care is provided 24 hours a day. The hospital is the largest healthcare provider in northwestern Skåne and offers residents care within most specialties. The department operates around the clock, with approximately 30 percent of operations being acute. It consists of 3 sections: orthopedics, surgery (including vascular surgery), and a section comprising otolaryngology, gynecology/obstetrics, urology, and dental and maxillofacial patients. We are just over 130 employees distributed among anesthesia nurses, operating room nurses, nursing assistants, anesthesiologists, and operating room technicians.
At the operating room department in Ängelholm, we primarily perform planned day surgery. We provide specialized planned care in orthopedics, surgery, gynecology, urology, dentistry, and otolaryngology. We receive both adults and children during daytime, Monday through Friday. The operating unit consists of operating room, anesthesia, sterile, day surgery, and recovery operations. We currently have approximately 90 employees, and the team consists of operating room nurses, anesthesia nurses, nurses, nursing assistants, sterile technicians, and physicians.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a registered nurse with work experience, you now have the opportunity to seek a trainee position in perioperative care, VO anesthesia/operating room/ICU in Helsingborg or Ängelholm.
Through the trainee program, we want to offer you the opportunity for professional and personal development within an exciting, high-tech field of operations. During the program, you will gain insight into the operating room nurse's tasks and areas of responsibility, which include patient care before, during, and after surgery. Structured mentorship and mentoring run throughout the program. As a trainee, you are expected to work independently within the patient care team with identified tasks that you are qualified to perform. During the trainee period, you will receive continuous education and solid foundational knowledge for your upcoming studies to become an operating room nurse. This knowledge will facilitate your studies and bring you closer to becoming a fully qualified operating room nurse.
Together, we will develop an individual education plan lasting approximately eight months, combining independent work with theoretical and practical training sessions, reflections, and study visits within our operations. You are expected to apply for specialist education during this time. We offer you study pay, which corresponds to maintained base salary during your education to become an operating room nurse. After completing your education, you will have an employment position within the operating room department in Helsingborg or Ängelholm.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome you if you are a licensed registered nurse with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare. To be eligible for the position, you must have at least 1.5 years of experience in the profession. Swedish language skills at a minimum of level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale are required.
