Trafikverket Seeks Legal Counsel in Environmental and Real Estate Law
As a legal counsel specializing in environmental and real estate law at Trafikverket, you will contribute to facilitating everyday life for residents and businesses throughout Sweden. You will do this by helping to build the infrastructure of the future. Job Responsibilities As a legal counsel at Trafikverket, you will combine specialized legal expertise with a mission of importance to society. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in environmental and real estate law in a role where legal excellence and societal value intersect. As a legal counsel, you will ensure a consistent legal approach and high legal quality across Trafikverket's operations. You will work on extensive and complex projects of great significance to society in close collaboration with specialists such as land negotiators, environmental specialists, geotechnical engineers, and others. The environmental law area is of central importance, with a focus on various permitting issues under the Environmental Code, particularly permits for water activities. The real estate law component mainly encompasses compulsory land acquisition and damages claims under the Expropriation Act, as well as matters concerning the Planning and Building Act, Property Formation Act, leasing, and tenancy. Damages claims and administrative law matters may also occur. Within your legal areas, you will represent Trafikverket primarily before the Land and Environmental Court, as well as before other courts and authorities. You will also provide legal advice to the organization, participate in consultation work, and contribute to training initiatives. The position is located within the central Legal and Planning Assessment function, which is a national unit with approximately fifty lawyers. You will become part of an experienced team within environmental and real estate law comprising about ten lawyers, where collaboration and knowledge exchange within the group are essential for ensuring consistent and appropriate legal application based on Trafikverket's mandate, as well as for developing both your colleagues and the organization. We offer a flexible work environment with the possibility of working remotely up to two days per week. Qualifications You are comfortable analyzing complex legal issues and translating them into clear and well-reasoned advice. You are a good problem solver with a holistic perspective and openness to alternative solutions. You work in a consultative manner and build trustful relationships through clear communication. You enjoy collaborating and readily share your knowledge. At the same time, you work independently, take responsibility for your assignments, and have strong prioritization skills. We are Seeking You If You have a law degree of at least 270 credits (180 points) have several years of current and relevant experience in qualified legal work in a government ministry, public administration, court, law firm, or company have at least two years of experience in qualified legal work within environmental and real estate law can express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing It is a merit if you have experience conducting cases in court.
